She sighs and looks up at me, stepping back slightly. “I did. Took some work though, and I finally had to just give in and agree things went where she was putting them.”

She fully steps back out of my arms and places her hands in her pockets as she rocks back on her heels.

“It’s the craziest thing. You can talk to her, and she seems totally normal, and then she’ll say or do something that just about blows your mind. I took her to Wren’s for lunch. Yes, I have no idea how often she’s been going lately, but that was our place when I lived here. She acted like she had no idea where we were and didn’t know what to order.”

I have to admit, I’m a little taken aback by this. I know just how often they used to go, and I was there for many of those trips. How does someone simply forget what you order at a place you’ve been to for years?

Hannah shakes her arms out, like she’s trying to rid her body of all of the emotions racing through her.

“She’s with Susie right now, so I could get a break. Want to go hang out at the bridge? Like we used to?”

I reach for her fingers. “Of course.”

“I wanted to call the guys and Ellie and Leah too.”

“Sounds like fun. We can really celebrate your release.”

She grins, and it’s the sexiest I’ve ever seen on her. “I thought last night was a pretty good celebration.”

I pull her near me, run my hand through her hair, and grab her neck as I kiss her, loving the way she feels pressed against me. “Oh, believe me, I did too. Just like any birthday you’ve ever had, you need to celebrate for an entire week when it’s something this big.”

She smiles again and heads toward my truck, opting to leave her car here and drive with me.

On the way there, we stop by the gas station store to grab some drinks while we call everyone to come out and join us. Funny how we used to sneak there to drink, and now, we can legally go buy our drinks, yet we are still heading to the same place.

We park at the bridge before anyone else, and I take the time to pull up her song on my phone.

As I push play, she grins my way but shakes her head. “You don’t have to play it.”

“Yes, we do. We have to play it, like, a thousand times.”

She laughs as she looks up at the roof of my truck. “It’s all so surreal. I still can’t believe it.”

“Do you know how it’s doing? Any feedback yet?”

She sighs, but I see the way her lips slightly tilt up. “Good so far. I talked to the label today. They understand what’s going on with my mom, but we need to figure some things out pretty quick, so we can get back.”

My stomach sinks at the thought of her having to go back to Nashville.

She turns her head, and her eyes meet mine. So much is said in her expression, and I assume she’s thinking the same thing I am, but I push it out of my mind and grab her hand, focusing on the celebration part of the night.

“I know it’s going to do great. There’s no way it couldn’t.”

I hear a car pulling up and check over my shoulder to see Tony and Leah with Ellie in the backseat, parking next to us. Close behind them are a few more cars, so we both hop out of the truck and head to greet everyone.

Cole and Trent have girls on their arms while Nate is flying solo.

“Why didn’t Marcella come?” Hannah asks Nate as they say hello.

He blows her off. “I ended it with her. She gave me shit for coming home, so I knew she wasn’t worth my time.”

“No girl will ever be good enough for you,” Hannah teases as she messes his hair up like a sister would.

We drop the tailgate on my truck and pop open some drinks.

I take the time to make a toast. “To The MC Band! Way to put Mason Creek on the map!”

“Cheers!” everyone yells out and clinks their cans together.
