Amber stretched her arms over her head. Waking up in Mountain’s bed, she thought maybe remorse would be an option, but it just didn’t happen. Instead, pure joy settled in the pit of her stomach as the ache between her legs had her wondering if orgasms had an end point. Lord knows the ones from the night before hadn’t ceased fully yet.

Remembering the sex they had, she couldn’t keep the smile from her lips. Turning her head, she found both of her kids in the bed with her and she shook her head trying to understand fully what had happened the night before.

Mountain was so sweet leaving her at his room’s door when they bid each other good night. The kiss near teenage in its innocence as if they hadn’t fucked senseless in the partially constructed home. Laying out on the floor, naked, with only moonlight to guide them as noise of the party covered both of their cries from pleasure. He’d found a tarp to keep them from splinters or getting too dirty from being on the ground and even a bit warm. Though his arms was more than enough since his body acted as if air temperature meant nothing to him.

Amber wondered where he’d slept after he’d left her, but only for a moment. Her bladder was about to rupture and if she didn’t move soon, she’d have find a way to blame Spot for her lack of control.

Sliding out of bed, she was happy the room had a bathroom as she tiptoed in the too big of t-shirt she wore to bed last night. Mountain had told her to dig through his drawers, but she opted to snag the first shirt she’d found since he’d been so open to her. Even Kevin kept things from her as if leaving a door open or her putting away his clothes after she did laundry, would somehow have her discovering a secret bank account in the Cayman Islands.

After taking care of herself, she washed her hands then walked back to the room and checked on the kids. Sitting on Maisie’s side of the bed, Spot stretched and crawled over to her lap before flopping down to sleep again.

Maisie opened her eyes. “Hi Mom.”

“Hi beautiful. How did you sleep?” She pushed Maisie’s hair out of her eyes.

“Mommy, I’m hungry.” Callum woke beside Maisie.

“Well, let’s get dressed then we can figure out food.”

Getting dressed only took a minute since Mountain had folded all the kids’ clothes and placed them in piles. Amber on the other hand was having issues locating her socks. It was then she finally took in Mountain’s room. Spot had a little ramp to help her up to the window where he’d put a little hammock on glass. Action figures were set up on is dresser and she could see Callum practically drooling over a Millennium Falcon replica.

A knock on the door startled her. “Come in,” Amber yelled.

The door opened and Mountain walked in. “Hi everyone.”

“Well hello.” Amber greeted him with a big smile. “You sleep well?”

“I did, missed Spot,” he said as the cat weaved between his legs. “But thanks to the beard, I still woke with a hairball.”

Callum laughed.

“The kids are hungry.” Amber rubbed Callum’s back.

“Well, not many are up yet. We could go into Turnabout and get breakfast,” Mountain suggested.

“Good idea,” Amber agreed. Grabbing her keys and phone from the bedside table, she was ready to go. “I hope you don’t mind but I found new toothbrushes in the bathroom. We used them to clean our teeth.”

“That’s what they were for. Glad you found them. I meant to tell you last night.” Mountain gave a smirk. “We tend to hit warehouse places when we go to the city. Saves us trips.”

“Oh good. So glad. Thank you.”

“Did you pick different colors?” he asked. “Or I have a marker in case you know… you might stay again, I could put them away for you.”

“I have the yellow one, but why would we come here again?” Maisie asked.

“Spot might want you to come by,” he said. “Your mom’s going to be working over here in the clinic, starting next week. Maybe she’s running late from an all-night Scrabble battle royale.”

Amber gave him a warning glare then grasped Maisie and Callum’s hands. “Let’s go eat.”

“What?” he said with an innocent look. “It could happen.”

“I bet there are lots of tournaments here,” she said.

“True, but you and I have a pretty good team.”

They walked through the now quiet clubhouse. Once they reached the van, they got in and Mountain took the keys sliding into the driver’s seat.
