She shoves the files at me until I’m forced to take them in my arms or let everything scatter to the floor. “Go in there and get it over with.”

“But—”

She shakes her head. “No excuses.”

“But he knows about you know.”

She giggles. “Are you trying to tell me that man in there doesn’t know you had a crush on him in high school?”

“Well…” Of course, he did. The entire freaking school did. Thus, the stupid nickname Heartsick Hailey.

“You are an adult woman. Straighten your back and march yourself into your office like you own the freaking world.” When I don’t start moving, she raises an eyebrow and crosses her arms over her chest. “Unless you’re too chicken.”

“Fine.” I don’t march back into my office. I stomp because apparently whenever Aiden is around, I revert back to an idiot teenager.

“Let’s do this,” I practically yell at him before dumping the files on my desk.
