“Wow,” Aiden says when I open the door. He grabs me by the hips and pulls me close as his eyes travel up and down my body. He bends over and whispers in my ear, “I want to rip your dress off of you and do dirty, dirty things to you.”
Goosebumps explode over my body and my female bits quiver. “Yes,” I breathe out. “I vote we start now.”
He licks the skin under my ear before biting my ear lobe and my female bits jump up and shout Yippee! “Later,” he says.
“Promise?” My body is melting into his, and I think I’ve lost control of my legs.
He takes a step back but not before he presses his pelvis to mine to show me exactly how much he wants to do naughty things to me. I shiver. This is going to be one long night.
“That dress. Are you trying to torture me?”
Not exactly, but it’s an awesome side effect. The main reason I’m wearing this ridiculous dress is a woman called Stephanie who is not an ex who has marital problems. Nope. She’s an ex trying to get in Aiden’s pants. I am not letting that happen, even if I have to wear a so-tight-I-can’t-breathe strapless tube dress.
Aiden takes my hand and leads me to his SUV. I look at the height and the step. Unless I hike my dress up over my hips and give the neighborhood a free peepshow, there’s no way I’m getting in there. “Houston, we have a problem.”
“I got you.” Aiden reaches around me to open the door and then lifts me up and places me in the seat as if I’m light as a feather. “I can’t wait,” he murmurs as he leans forward and plants his lips on mine. His tongue seeks entrance and I immediately open to him. I thread my fingers through his hair and pull him as close as possible.
He moans as his hands skim over my body. I want to feel his hands on my skin. This stupid dress is in the way. I grunt in frustration.
Aiden chuckles as he rips his mouth away and places his forehead against mine. He takes a moment to catch his breath. “Later,” he promises before kissing my forehead and moving away.
Once we’re on our way and I’ve lassoed my libido into submission, I tell Aiden about my day. “Suzie is driving me crazy.”
“As I recall, you two drive each other crazy.”
“Wrong. Suzie is bat shit crazy and it rubs off on everyone.” He snorts. “Seriously. Listen to what she did now.” I swivel in my seat to face him. “She and the uncles started a bet on when you and I will have sex for the first time.”
“What?” he barks. The hand on my thigh clenches. Uh oh. Time to backpedal.
“They’re always making stupid bets.”
“Stupid bets are one thing. Betting on our sex life is another.” His voice is all gravely and angry. I know I should be concerned about how angry he is, but my body is screaming he’s so hot when he’s protecting our virtue.
We park on the street near the pub and Aiden jumps out of the car and slams his door. Shit. He is seriously pissed. I need to fix this. “It’s only a bet,” I plea as he helps me out of the car.
“Not an excuse,” he grumbles as he weaves his fingers through mine and starts hauling me inside.
I drag my feet, but I’m no match for a pissed off six-foot-three man on a mission. He pushes his way inside and looks around for a second before his eyes fall upon the uncles sitting in their corner booth.
“I’m sorry,” I tell them before Aiden has a chance to speak.
“You are not betting about our sex life.” He glares at them. “Do you understand?”
Barney and Sid nod, while Lenny and Wally lift their chins. I can see the corners of Wally’s lips turn up. Oh no, they didn’t. I yank my hand free of Aiden’s and push him out of my way. I plant my hands on the table and lean close to stare daggers at them.
“You weren’t betting at all, were you? This was a test, wasn’t it?”
Aiden wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me away. “It’s fine, honey. I don’t mind.”
“Well, I do!”
Wally stands and approaches me. He places a hand on my cheek. “Hails, sweetie, we need to make sure the man you end up with is worthy of you.”
Suzie arrives and pushes her way in between us. “What’s going on here?”
