“Don’t tell me he’s going to rob another store.”

We drive for twenty minutes until we reach another Wal-Mart. “Holy moly. He is going to rob another store.”

“Not being able to be on his feet all day isn’t slowing him down at all,” I say as we drive into the parking lot. “Should I inform Wal-Mart?”

“I’ll call Aiden. I’m sure the insurance company would love a bunch of footage of him being a thief, but I’m not going to sit here and watch some guy rob store after store.” She reaches for her phone.

I open the door to follow Flint, but Ryker blocks me. Where did he come from?

“This store is packed. I can’t protect you.”

I huff. “I’m trying to do my job.”

He nods toward Hailey. “She’s calling Aiden, isn’t she?”

I deflate. There’s no reason for me to follow Douglas if the man is going to end up in cuffs soon anyway.

“Get back in the car and wait for back up.”

Hailey’s hanging up as I get back in the passenger seat.

“Ryker pull the big bad protector card on you?”

I grunt. Obviously.

“Don’t worry. Once the police arrest Douglas Flint, we’ll still get our payday.”

The police arrive and park at the front of the store. Hailey and I get out and walk to them. The driver rolls down the window. “You Aiden’s woman?”

Hailey rolls her eyes. “I’m Hailey. We can point out Douglas Flint when he exits.”

I hope he has a cart of ink cartridges with him. Otherwise, we’re going to look like fools. We wait two minutes for Flint to walk out. He doesn’t make us look like fools. His cart is stuffed with ink cartridges.

The officers exit their squad car and meander toward him. As soon as Flint sees the officers, he shoves the cart at them and takes off running.

“Broken foot, my ass,” Hailey mumbles as I lift the camera and take pictures. “And you were worried about getting the money shot.”

She throws her arm around me. “You should learn to trust me.”

We watch as the officers tackle Flint to the ground and cuff him before hauling him to his feet.

“Welp. Our work here is done.” She looks over to Ryker’s truck. “Yep. We better leave before someone has a brain hemorrhage.”

I glance over. Ryker’s hands are gripping the steering wheel and his jaw is clenched. I bet he’s grinding his teeth as well.

“Someone needs to take a chill pill,” I mutter but follow her back to our SUV.

“If you wanted a chill man, you shouldn’t have fallen for a bounty hunter.”

Fallen for a bounty hunter? I haven’t fallen for anyone. Except the words feel like a lie. Shit. Am I falling for Ryker?
