“What do you think?”

“What do I think? I think you should get off the furniture.” I don’t know what we’re doing here but sitting on someone else’s furniture is a no-no unless you’re invited to sit.

He ignores me to ask a question of his own. “Do you like the place?”

“It’s gorgeous and charming and homey. Of course, I like it.” My eyes widen as Ryker lifts his feet and places them on the coffee table.

I rush to him and push his feet off the table. Or at least I try to. The man refuses to budge. “Are you out of your mind? You’re being incredibly rude.”

“Who am I being rude to?”

“Duh. To whoever owns this house.”

He smirks. “Guess I’m not being rude then.”

I’m an idiot. I should have figured this out sooner. In my defense, this isn’t the type of house I would expect the big guy to buy. A log cabin in the middle of nowhere seems more like his style.

“This is your place?” I ask although I’m pretty sure I know the answer.

He nods. “What do you think of the décor and furniture?”

I look around the room at the eggshell walls and gray trim. It’s classic and not what I would have expected of Ryker, but it fits the old Victorian house. “I like it, but it’s more important you like it. You’re the one who will live here after all.”

He chuckles. “Babe. I bought this house for us.”

“You did what now?”

He drops his feet and grabs my hand to pull me close. “I know I should have involved you in the decision, but I didn’t want to pressure you or make you feel uncomfortable. I know you don’t have much money right now.”

I look away. Shit. I need to tell him about my stock portfolio. “Actually …” I trail off. I don’t know how to tell him I own a ton of stock.

He grasps my chin and forces me to look at him. “What is it, Princess? Do you not like the house after all? Am I moving too fast?”

“You probably are moving too fast, but you won’t hear me complaining.”

He smiles and I temporarily forget I need to share news with him. He rarely smiles, so when I manage to make him smile, I feel like I can conquer the world.

“What is it then, Princess?”

“I have a stock portfolio,” I blurt. “It’s worth a lot of money.” I cringe as I wait for his reaction.

His brow wrinkles. “But you’ve been living in a shithole and selling your clothes for money.”

“I was afraid to touch it before. I was worried if I cashed in some of my stock, Theodore would find me. But there’s no need to worry about him finding me anymore.”

“Okay.” He nods. “Now, tell me more about these stocks.”

“What do you want to know?”

He clenches his jaw and I can hear his teeth grinding. “I want to know if you’re going to go back to your cushy life since you have money. I want to know how you could ever live in this house since—”

I cut him off when my lips meet his. I pour everything I’m feeling but have been too chicken to say into the kiss. He doesn’t let me be in charge for long. He pulls me onto his lap and wraps his hand around my neck to tilt my head to his liking.

My body heats and my breasts swell. I can feel his cock growing and thickening underneath me. I grind myself on him and sparks ignite in my belly. Suddenly, he yanks my head away.

“Before we christen this couch, I need to know you’re staying.”

“Of course, I’m staying. I love you. I’m not going anywhere.”
