“Please, let me go.” Almost like she read my mind, she speaks in that small voice again.

“No.” I don’t hesitate for a second and I know why. This woman sitting in my chair is not the same one I ran after in the woods and I will not let her go until she shows herself to me. I can’t even explain to myself why, but there’s something about her, there’s something hidden there and I need to find out what it is.

“Please,” she whispers. It’s like there’s no power in her voice anymore, no power inside of her to make her fight for her life, for a future. She’s on the brink of giving up and I can’t have that. Not now, not when I’m so determined to hear the siren’s song again.

“None of us are leaving this mountain until spring comes.” We could technically hike, but it would take days and it’s not safe. There is another solution, but I don’t intend to tell her that yet.

Her eyes dart up and her back straightens at those words.

“Spring?!” Life’s being bled back into her eyes at the realization that she will be trapped, here, with me, for months. I like it. There’s apprehension, uncertainty, and whole lot of fear in that bright green gaze.

“I cannot stay that long, there are people worrying about me. I have to leave.” And there it is, the first lie she’s telling me. Funny how she only thought about these people now. I can’t help it, so I start laughing.

She gives me a disapproving grin, merged with slight panic. I don’t have time for this though.

“Come.” I start walking up the steps. “There’s nowhere for you to go outside, the temperature is in the negatives now, you’ll die of hypothermia halfway down the mountain. If you don’t get eaten by wolves that is.” I turn my head to watch her reaction and as expected, her eyes went wide. Was it the cold or the wolves that got to her? Somehow I think it’s the cold, there’s a passion in her that would make her fight the wolves to death. If only she would remember how to bring that passion back to the surface.

I carry on up the stairs and enter the guest bedroom closest to my master.

“You can stay here.” I don’t want to linger. I don’t want to be nice, even though there’s some unnatural craving inside of me that wills me to be with her.

Suki… Goddamn it, her name… her eyes… fuck!

I walk out of there, leaving her in, and closing the door behind me.

FUCK!
