And in this case, no matter how much I protested, they insisted upon doing it alone.

“I’m worried,” I told them flatly. “Mathias sounds dangerous as hell.”

Cody shrugged, while Silas said nothing. Neither of them denied it.

“And you’re inhistown,” I added. “Surrounded by his people.”

“A man like Mathias has no people,” replied Silas. “A mercenary with connections, sure. But he’s also a loner. Even as an enforcer, he prefers to work alone.”

“He has home field advantage,” I protested.

“He also doesn’t know we’re coming,” Cody added. “And that’s big.”

I slipped from Silas’s embrace, stepping back to take the two of them in. MyGodthey looked good. So fucking good it was almost criminal.

“You really have to do this?” I asked for the fifth or sixth time.

They both nodded, together, in unison. Their smoldering eyes melted my heart.

“I— I just don’t know how I can just sit here waiting,” I told them. “I’m already going out of my mind.”

“Then don’t,” Cody shrugged. “Go downstairs. Take some of the chips and gamble a little.”

He nodded toward the table just inside, where a couple dozen green, blue, and black chips lay stacked in rows. We’d thrown a little bit of craps after parting with Veronique. We’d even done well.

“I’m not going to be able to do anything else,” I shook my head. “I just wish—”

Silas took my hand, pulled me over, and pressed his mouth to mine. His lips rolled firmly, hotly, parting my own until I was whimpering softly into his sweet, open mouth.

Holyyyyy shit.

He passed me into Cody’s strong, capable hands, giving me over, sharing me with his friend. His lips and tongue were different, but his mouth was no less sweet. He kissed until my body was on fire, his hands roaming my hips in familiar exciting ways.

“Listen…”

Silas slid behind me, molding his body against mine. I could feel every ridge and ripple. Every hard, quivering strand of muscle.

“You want to find your brother?” he whispered. “This is how it happens. Mathias is the man who saw him last. He’ll know where he is.”

I nodded slowly, vaguely aware I was surrendering on some level.

“We’ll get what we need from him,” Silas promised, “as fast as possible.”

His mouth closed over my neck. I sighed blissfully as his hot tongue danced across my skin.

“And then we’ll comeback,” he groaned, cupping me from behind. “And we’ll make it up to you.”

Between Cody’s slow, thunderous kisses and Silas palming my ass my heart was soaring all over again. Or at the very least, other parts of me were.

“You promise?” I managed to murmur, my lips sensuously brushing Cody’s.

“Absolutely,” Silas breathed into my ear.

I shivered involuntarily as Cody took my hand and guided it between us. He didn’t stop until he’d pressed it over the significant bulge in his slacks.

“Cross my heart,” he chuckled into my mouth. He squeezed the back of my hand with his, helping my fingers close around his thickness. “Hope to die.”

“Don’t say that!” I gasped, biting his lip. “Notfunny.”
