“Connor, I—”

And then our lips were crushed suddenly and inexplicably against one another’s…

… and we were definitelykissing.

Eleven

JORDYN

My mind reeled, my body floating there as if no longer touching the floor. Connor’s lips continued moving against mine, surging, churning, kissing me as he held my face in one gentle hand, slipping his tongue alongside mine.

HOLY SHIT!

I was totally helpless, completely unable to stop him. But I was also deeply complicit. My own tongue was moving, seeking his every bit as much as his did mine. My own lips rolling in slow, sensual circles, as I inhaled that beautiful musky scent I’d been enduring all night and kissed himback.

What the fuck, Jordyn!?

The whole thing lasted only five seconds, possibly six.

Or maybe it went on for half a minute…

Quite honestly I didn’t know. All I knew was that the people next to us had stopped applauding, and we were slowly drifting apart again. Whether they’d been clapping for my win, or for our kiss, I had no idea. But just as suddenly as it first happened, the kiss was over.

“Jordyn…” I heard him whisper softly. “I…”

I was at a complete loss for words. Seems he was too.

“That didn’t happen,” I told him when I could finally speak again. “I mean itdid, but it also didn’t.”

Connor nodded slowly, indicating he understood. “Aye.”

“Good,” I breathed. “Because—”

“No need,” he said, putting a hand up. “And hey… good win.”

He punched the CASH OUT button, and a new voucher printed and spat out of the machine. I was semi-rich again. Sort of.

“Take the victory and split?” he suggested.

“Hell yeah,” I agreed.

We walked together again, still moving in the direction of the lobby. Only now we were no longer holding hands.

Fuck.

The conversation between us had died as well. I regretted that part, because I’d really enjoyed it. The whole night had been amazing, really. But not half as spectacular as that one, long, searing hot kiss…

Halfway through the lobby, Connor stopped abruptly. He turned to look at the big marbled desk, sitting there in the off-hours silence. Two men and a woman stood behind it, their uniformed arms folded, talking softly amongst themselves.

“We could stay,” he said abruptly.

My heart skipped two beats, possibly three. In the span of a few seconds, my mouth had gone totally dry.

“What are you—”

“I mean it’s pretty late,” he cut me off. “Wecouldget a room.”

The part of the lobby we stood in was empty now, except for us. You could literally hear a pin drop.
