It wasn’t until I was on the way home that I finally figured things out.

When the idea first came it seemed totally absurd, but that was until I gave it more thought. The car ride was nearly two hours this time. Traffic had given me enough time to rectify it all in my head. I’d done the math, I’d weighed the pros and cons, and I’d run every possible objection through my sharply debating mind. All that was left was to put my thoughts into words, and that was only if I had the courage to actually do it.

By the time I’d parked it was well past normal dinner time, although I knew the guys most likely still hadn’t eaten yet. I found all three of them in the kitchen, boiling pasta and stirring sauce. It smelled so good it was almost distracting. Almost.

“House meeting — my office,” I declared, throwing my keys on the counter. “Now.”

Connor and Elliot glanced at each other, then at me. Aiden finished licking a dab of red sauce off the tip of his middle finger.

“Rightnow?” he asked.

“It’s the only now I know of,” I shot back, as I stormed down the hall.

Twenty-Seven

JORDYN

I entered my living area swiftly, with the guys trailing not far behind. It took only a moment to kick off my shoes and point at the couch.

“Sit.”

It was more of an order than a request. It also came out a lot harsher than I meant it. Even so, it did the trick. One by one they sank into the cushions, without saying a word.

“I know you think I’m upset about the failed cycle,” I said right off the bat, “but I’m not. I’m more disappointed than anything else, because I guess I just expected we’d succeed the first time.”

They were looking up at me with interest, all three of them in different stages of undress. Elliot had loosened his tie after work, but hadn’t taken it off yet. Aiden was wearing comfortable jeans and a T-shirt, and Connor was in a pair of shorts and a tank top.

“I’m most disappointed about only getting to try every other month, because that seems too far a spread. But I might have a solution for that. If you guys are up for it, that is.”

They still hadn’t said a word, and that was good. I needed it to be quick. Like ripping off a band-aid.

“I was thinking we could also do this the old way,” I said, my throat going tight. “The natural way. You know, to boost our chances.”

“Thenaturalway…” Aiden repeated, his brows coming together. I couldn’t believe he still didn’t get it.

“Jordyn,” Elliot began carefully. “What are you—”

“I was thinking we could just have sex.”

The room went so silent it was like a bomb went off, and we were all struck totally deaf. None of the guys moved a muscle. Their eyes never even shifted away from me, as the gravity of my statement sank in.

“Of course we’ll still do the IVF,” I blurted quickly, “and I’ll still take all the stimulation meds. But in between cycles, I’m still fertile as hell. My body’s humming with hormones, all geared up to make babies with someone.”

Silence still reigned. I smiled my way through it.

“The three of youarethat someone,” I said placing my hands lightly on my hips. “It’s as simple as that.”

Aiden’s face registered pure, abject shock, whereas Connor looked pleasantly surprised. Elliot’s expression however, was that of a professional poker player. It hadn’t changed at all.

“Sex,” he repeated, like the word held zero implications.

“Yes.”

“With you.”

I let out a short laugh. “Well you can do each other if that’s your thing,” I joked, “but then the chances of pregnancy gowaydown.”

Connor laughed, and I shot him an appreciative grin. I had to grin. If I stopped smiling, I could easily lose my nerve.
