I was left slumped back on the couch, lying there in a haze of euphoria. I was every bit as spent and relaxed as she’d said I would be, after her tension-reliving ‘massage.’

Eventually Jordyn stood up, smiling like a Cheshire cat. Reaching out, she gently caressed the side of my face while dragging her fingers over my lips.

“Here.”

She pushed her middle finger straight past my lips and into my mouth, where it tasted tangy and delicious. For a brief instant I sucked on it, savoring the sweet, musky flavor before letting go.

“See?” she chided me playfully, before turning away with a wink. “Sometimes webothwin.”

Forty-Six

JORDYN

I stopped midway through the kitchen, on my morning pilgrimage to the shrine of the coffee machine. It was early.Veryearly. Enough to tell me that the presence of others meant something was amiss.

“Hey sexy.”

Aiden sat at the kitchen table looking casual and relaxed, more than halfway done with a tall glass of orange juice. Directly across from him, Elliot was scrolling through his phone. Both men were already showered and dressed. Casually, too.

“Ummm… what are you guys doingup?”

They were never up this early, even on the days they drove into the city. No one ever was, except for me.

And they were never not dressed for business, either.

“Forget coffee,” Elliot said without looking up.

Standing there in my bathrobe, I laughed. “Forget coffee? Are you out of your mind?”

“We’ll pick it up on the road.”

He was still pushing buttons on his phone’s screen, and using his thumb to scroll up and down. I glanced over at Aiden, who smiled placatingly.

“We’re going on a trip,” he said. “Just the three of us.”

“A surprise trip,” added Elliot.

My heart sank. “But I have work today.”

Aiden’s smug grin of satisfaction widened. “Yeah, that’s where you’d be wrong.”

“Oh I’m pretty sure I’m not—”

“We called you in,” Elliot interrupted me. “Talked to your boss already. It’s all set.”

“Youdid?” I asked, alarmed. “How’d you get his number?”

“The internet,” said Aiden, slugging down another gulp of juice.

“But it’s four-thirty in the morning!”

He wiped his arm across his mouth before continuing. “We called him last night, silly. Told him you had a surprise coming today, and weren’t gonna make in.”

My excitement level shot abruptly upward. I didn’t even care that there wasn’t any coffee.

“So you gonna pack or what?” asked Elliot.

“Pack?”
