The car remained silent, and I thought of Jocelyn. Of being young again, a little girl again. Of all the times we played together, of all the great memories the two of us shared together.

“Do you really think—”

“No,” I smiled, opening my eyes. “Actually I don’t. Not this time, anyway.”

All three of the guys froze perfectly still. I could’ve knocked them over by blowing on them.

“Yeah, that’s right. I said ‘this time’. And that’s because I want there to beanothertime. And, yes, another after that.”

Connor’s mouth had dropped almost comically open, and Aiden was instantly glassy-eyed in the rear-view mirror. Elliot’s face however, registered total recognition. As well as incredible amounts of love.

“So you’ll be our surrogate for all three—”

“No,” I cut Connor off. “I won’t be your surrogate.”

The silence was deafening. It was almost impossible to keep from crying, but somehow I managed.

“But I’ll be your girlfriend,” I practically whispered. “Or your fiancé, or your wife, or whatever you want to call me. But most of all…”

I squeezed Elliot’s hand and set my other on Aiden’s shoulder. My face shifted forward, so that I was equidistant from all of them.

“I want to be a mother to our children.”

The elation on their faces was something I wanted to capture forever. I shifted my eyes quickly, flitting from one man to the next. Taking mental pictures I could always keep inside me, as well as gauging their reactions to the bomb I’d just dropped on them.

“I’ve been running around without a family,” I said solemnly, “convincing myself there was more in life to see and do. But the truth is, life’s never as good as when it’s shared with the people you love. And while it’s rare you lose everyone, almost at once…” I squeezed my eyes shut, letting the first tears fall. “It’s even rarer to be given a second chance. A secondfamily.”

I smiled happily through the excitement of telling them. I even laughed through it, because it felt so good to say.

“The three of youarethat chance for me,” I choked. “I love all of you — and this baby — more than anything else in the world.”

By now we were no longer moving because the car had stopped. Aiden had pulled over, unable to see through his own sea of tears.

And together — like everything else they did — the three men I loved with all my heart flung their arms around me.

Epilogue

JORDYN

“The little angel is finally asleep.”

Connor padded up the hallway, into the newly-renovated living area where the rest of us were relaxing happily. Aiden flipped him a throw pillow, to prop behind his head as he sat down. Once settled, Elliot slipped him a tall glass of whiskey; neat, the way he liked it.

“He took that long to put down?” I asked.

“Nah,” Connor smiled. “I spent most of the time just watching him sleep.”

“I do that,” Aiden chuckled. “Sometimes I go in there at night when he’s not even awake, just to check on him.”

The rest of us raised our hands. We were all guilty of it. And that’s because our son Mason — our beautiful, gorgeous little three-month old baby — was almosttoogood when it came to sleeping though the night.

“I heard it gets worse,” said Connor. “I read something about the first year being the easiest, and then—”

“We’ll be up all hours of the night?” I chuckled, “Rocking him back to sleep?”

“Aye,” he nodded, wincing through his first sip. “That.”

As it was, we still had to wake up to feed Mason regularly. But our unconventional little family had one major advantage in that regard: there were four of us, and only one of him. That meant we took turns, and could easily swap out when one of us needed a full night’s sleep. The only problem was beingtooobsessed with him. So obsessed, that two or even of three of us would sometimes wake up for the feeding.
