“What happened?”

“What do you remember?” a third voice asked. Asa leaned to the left, and the owner of the little flashlight came into view.

“Milo! You’re here?”

I tried to sit up, but Cohen’s arms had reclaimed their position around me, keeping me pressed to his chest. It felt awkward to be held by him in front of Milo, and I didn’t know why. I reasoned that I didn’t want Milo to feel uncomfortable, but even that sounded off to my own mind.

“He’s the one that found you, sweetheart,” Cohen cooed, brushing my hair behind my ear as he whispered into it. “He saved you.”

“That sounds about right,” I mumbled. Dropping my eyes, I looked at the bedspread, trying to place where we were. It looked like the one from our hotel room. That knowledge seemed to help me relax completely, and my brain began to think again.

I was safe. I was safe. I was safe.

Now that I knew I wasn’t being kidnapped again, the flashes of memory began to trickle through. The funhouse and the masked man that’d grabbed me.

“Where did you find me?” I asked, needing to know more information.

“You were unconscious in the middle of a funhouse,” Milo answered, sitting on the bed. I watched as his hand flexed, almost like he wanted to reach out and take mine. Deciding he’d earned a little hand-holding, I reached out and took his before remembering he wasn’t part of the dating deal.

I sucked in a breath, watching out of the corner of my eye to see what the others would do. When no one tensed, got angry, or punched Milo, I decided to take it as a win for now and would deal with it more later. Milo appeared to be on the same page as his grip tightened in mine.

“Okay, well, I guess that’s good that I didn’t get taken far. So, were you the one who attacked Blackhawk?”

“Blackhawk?” he asked before shaking his head. “I don’t know who that is, but I didn’t attack anyone. Two guys were fighting when I found you. I didn’t stop to ask them their names.”

Something about the way he said that had a giggle leaving my lips, and his shoulders relaxed, a smile spreading across his handsome face. I took him in, noticing him in more detail. He was dressed in a button-down shirt, bow tie, and dress pants. He looked really handsome, not helping with my ‘wanting more than I should’ problem.

“You look really nice,” I blurted, my cheeks heating. Cheese cracker! I was turning into Sawyer.

“Oh, thanks.” He glanced down like he’d just realized what he was wearing. “I didn’t really have time to change before heading here.”

“How did you know to come?” I asked, finally realizing how odd it was he was here. “And what were you doing beforehand?” I scrunched my nose, groaning when it hurt, remembering the throbbing from earlier. My hand reached up to touch the spot, but Asa grabbed it, locking it in his. I was now being touched by three guys, and my vagina started to get ideas.

“I, uh…” He blushed even more, and I wondered if he could read my thoughts or if I’d voiced it all out loud, and my own face began to redden in response.

“It’s kind of an embarrassing story. Can we maybe talk about what happened to you first? I want to make sure you’re okay.”

“After you went into the funhouse, the attendant wouldn’t let us through,” Asa began, pulling us back to the topic. “He kept saying that the party was full and we had to wait. What happened once you were inside?”

I blinked, trying to recall the events. They all slammed into me, my eyes closing at the onslaught.

“It was weird. Everything was trippy, and it took me a while to get my equilibrium. The mirrors played tricks, and I thought it was one of you, but then a guy was behind me. I don’t remember much other than him placing a hand over my mouth. There was a little pinch in my neck, but then it was gone. I thought one of you had come in, so I took the chance to run. What I assumed was the way out wasn’t, and I smacked into the mirror at full speed. I’m guessing that’s where I got this.” I tilted my head since I didn’t have the use of my hands. “Your turn.”

The guys all looked at each other, apparently not knowing who I was speaking to. A smile spread across my face, and despite the situation, it felt nice to be surrounded by them all. But as soon as the thought entered my head, I pushed it away. I couldn’t get too comfortable thinking I could keep all three.

The realization had me sobering, and I dropped a hand to tap Cohen’s arm. He made a grumble, the possessiveness doing something to my insides.

“Can I sit up, please?”

“Fine,” he replied, the sound more like a growl than a real answer. He let go of me, and everyone repositioned themselves on the bed as I sat up. I briefly glanced around, trying to buy time as I took in the details of our room.

Putting my hands in my lap, I peered back at Cohen and Asa. “Did you get a good look at Blackhawk? Where is he? Did he get away?”

They both seemed to drop their eyes as Asa shook his head. “We didn’t get him.”

“But, I thought…” Cohen sighed, his whole body collapsing like a deflated balloon.

“We never made it inside. We don’t know who the other person was.”
