“It’s bigger than the room they had at the clubhouse, and with Rach being knocked up, they’re gonna need more space for a crib and other shit.”
With a sigh, I leaned forward and rested my forehead against the warm column of his neck. “Why were you brooding out there?”
His hand worked its way up the back of my tank and walked his fingers up and down my spine before settling his palm at the small of my back. “I wasn’t happy with how things ended between us, Doc. I wasn’t sure what to do with that. And after five days on the road, I still didn’t have you out of my head.”
He pressed me closer. It wasn’t nearly close enough.
“I wantedyou, Linden, even when I thought you didn’t want me back.”
I lifted my head to stare into his eyes. “I do want you, Boxer.”
He quirked a smile. “Yeah, darlin’, I know.”
“But it’s even more than that.”
“That’s why you showed up here tonight?”
“I lied to myself about why I came here.” I exhaled. “I told myself it was because I wanted to apologize. Clear the air.”
“I forgive you for using me like a sex toy,” he said. I shoved his shoulder, but then he captured my hand and brought it to his lips. “I’m glad you came.”
We stared at one another. His quicksilver eyes were beautiful, soft, when they looked at me.
“This is insane,” I whispered.
He nodded.
“We haven’t known each other that long.”
He nodded again.
“You’re a criminal.”
He shrugged.
“I’m a basket case.”
He nodded vigorously.
I sighed, brushing my lips against his hand. “I’m a good doctor, Boxer. But that’s all I’m good at.”
“That’s notallyou’re good at,” he teased.
“There’s more to a relationship than sex.”
“Which is why I don’t do relationships. Too hard. Too complicated. Too much talking when people could be doing something else with their mouths…”
I raised my brows.
“But damn, you might be a crazy enough broad to keep me entertained. Inandout of bed.” He grinned cheekily. “I haven’t fucked anyone since I fucked you.”
“Really?”
“You don’t believe me?”
“What about Trish and Tanya? If I hadn’t shown up, would you be in here with them right now? You know what, don’t answer that. I don’t want to know.”
“You’re gonna be in my bed. And while you’re there, there won’t be any others. Okay?”
