Caleb’s mouth twists into a frown.

An ominous feeling settles over me. I don’t want him staring at me with such aversion.

“She’s not an omega,” Caleb says.

Something sparks inside me at those words.Omega? Was he after my family because he wanted Delilah? My sister was worthy enough to be a mate to someone of his caliber. She was a star student at the academy, after all.

But was he forcing her? Was that the reason Mom and Dad fled with her in the middle of the day?

The thought is like a flame on hot, dry kindling. My rage flares, giving me the courage I need to stand up against the alpha standing before me.

“Is this about Delilah?” I ask him in a clear voice. “Are you trying to bully her into accepting you? Do you think kidnapping me is going to make her submit to you? Well, I’ve got news for you, buddy. It’s not happening. You can do whatever you want to me. I won’t ever let you touch my sister.”

Caleb’s eyebrows rise high over his smooth, broad forehead. His gaze shifts over to the alpha beside me.

“What did you tell her, Damon?” Caleb asks.

“Absolutely, nothing. I don’t think the wildcat knows anything about our deal with her parents.”

“Damon!” a different voice says from behind Caleb. “What happened to you?” One of the men behind Caleb walks to the front and approaches the alpha beside me.

I stare at him as he gets closer and feel my heart flutter. This man has to be the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen in my life. Scents of vanilla and chocolate waft toward me, making me inhale deeply.

He fusses over the bruise where Damon was hit with my trophy earlier.

I take the opportunity to study him longer. Thick strands of silvery-blond hair frame his heart-shaped face. His skin is as smooth as glass. My gaze zeroes in on his luscious lips that are so glossy, that I think they could be cherries. The sudden urge to taste those lips overwhelms me.

That’s when it strikes me.

This man is an omega.

Male omegas are rare. They’re so few among us that this is the first time I’m meeting one.

“It’s nothing to worry about, Julian,” says Damon with a chuckle. “I was careless. Had no idea this little kitty has claws.”

Jules turns around to stare at me.

My cheeks blaze as I meet his violet-hued eyes. I can feel my heart hammering in my chest. My lips part but no words come out.

“Her?” Jules questions, watching me curiously. “She’s so tiny.”

Damon chuckles beside me. “I know, right? You should see what she did to Garcia. Broke the poor guy’s nose.”

A look of interest descends into those beautiful, soulful violet eyes.

The urge to preen overwhelms me and it’s a struggle not to break out into song. His one look of approval is enough to drive me crazy.

Focus, I tell myself.

Next moment, I feel a dark, angry miasma wrapping around me, choking the air out of me. Caleb has crossed the distance between us and is pulling Julian away.

“Julian.” A growl rips out of Caleb’s throat. “She could be dangerous. Stay away from her.” He drags his precious omega away from me.

“I’m not going to hurt him!” I speak before I can control my stupid, pheromone-soaked brain.

“Quiet!” Caleb snarls.

The muscles in my body lock up at the force of his command.
