“Raiden will carry you,” says Julian.

“What?” I blurt. “It’s not necessary at all.”

Raiden walks toward me and swipes me in his arms in one fluid motion.

I gasp out, my heart leaping into my throat.

He flashes me a smile, taking my breath away. This close to him, I can’t help but inhale a lungful of his pine and citrus fragrance.

I look toward Julian, wondering how he can stand his mate touching me. The omegas I met at Delilah’s school would’ve scratched my eyes out if I even looked at their alphas for too long.

Julian’s different, my mind whispers. Different but at the same time, he belongs to someone else. I must never forget that about him or Raiden.

It’s a while before I even notice that Raiden is carrying me up a flight of winding stairs. Julian is ahead of him, steadily climbing up.

When we reach the top, I’m guided down a long, narrow passage. Julian opens a door at the end of the corridor and walks inside.

I expect something similar to the storeroom in the trainee building. Instead, I’m greeted by a vast hall that’s mostly filled with empty space.

There are windows along the walls, allowing natural sunlight to light up the room. I look all around me, taking in the computer units and LCDs stacked up in a corner.

“I’m putting you down,” Raiden says in a deep voice. He lowers me to my feet and holds onto me until he’s sure I’m steady on my feet.

“Thanks,” I mutter, failing to hide the hot blush creeping up my cheeks.

“What do you think?” Julian asks in a hesitant tone.

“It’s great,” I say, comparing it to the dusty and cobweb-layered storeroom. “There’s plenty of light. And there’s a bed as well.”

Julian nods thoughtfully. “I can get you clean sheets and some lamps. You’re also going to need clothes.”

“You don’t have to buy me anything,” I quickly say. “I can grab my stuff from home.”

“You won’t leave this estate,” Raiden says, injecting a hint of dominance into his tone. “We still haven’t decided what to do with you.”

“Don’t scare her,” Julian scolds.

“I’m not scaring her,” he immediately responds. “She needs to know the rules.”

Julian frowns. “That’s not what it sounded like.”

Raiden looks distraught at once. “That’s not how I meant it.”

Raiden is taller and broader than Julian. There’s no doubt in my mind who’d win in a fight. It’s almost hilarious how Julian can bully him into feeling so miserable.

Julian and Raiden are still bickering over me, so I walk toward the corner where the computer units and monitors are stacked up. One glance and I’m itching to find out whether these products still work or not.

“Are these broken?” I ask, interrupting them.

“They’re not broken,” Raiden says, walking over to me. “We replace our tech every time there’s a new update. The old ones get stowed here until someone comes and takes them away.”

“So, you’ve got a perfectly working PSP?” I say with awe. “And these routers? These cables? They’re all in working condition?”

“They should be,” he replies.

“Wow,” I breathe, unable to believe the treasure trove I’ve stumbled upon.

“Do you like games? Julian asks.
