CHAPTER4

Kirill

Structure.

Organization.

Discipline.

I practiced all three in my profession. I had to in order to keep my edge as well as remain alive. While living and working in the US was somewhat safer than in Mother Russia, there were still dozens of men who’d enjoy the sight of blood oozing from the wounds they’d inflicted. While I usually refrained from alcohol, as I stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window in the living room, I was already on my second drink of the night. I’d turned off the lights, preferring the darkness when I worked through a problem in my mind.

And Candy was a definite problem. While I’d enjoyed feasting on her body, I couldn’t get the strange nagging out of my head. Maybe I’d lost my touch in being able to see treacherous actions within a few seconds of meeting someone.

As I rolled the glass across my forehead, I allowed my thoughts to drift to the possibility she’d come to seduce me. While there was nothing of real importance for her to find inside this shithole of an apartment, simply knowing the layout might prove to be beneficial to some fool who was determined to bring down a portion of the Kozlov family.

I tossed back the shot, heading for the bottle for another round. On this night, I knew I wouldn’t feel the effects of the liquor to any degree. As I took a deep breath, I was able to gather her scent all over again. It was intoxicating, even if it had a slight hint of stale beer and roast beef. I snickered and poured the third shot. A peace offering. The girl had balls. Yes, she did.

With what the Kozlov family was going through with the unions, I would need to tread water carefully with her. How the hell had I managed to get myself into this situation? Sighing, I took a smaller sip, allowing the alcohol to remain in my mouth for a short time before swallowing. The slight burn felt damn good, but not nearly as amazing as being inside of her. It had been a hell of a long time since I’d enjoyed being with a woman. Tasting and fucking Candy had been a real treasure.

When I heard a sound, I powered back the drink, slowly turning my head toward the door leading to the bedrooms. Candy walked closer, her timid gait indicating she was still embarrassed by what we’d shared. I’d removed her clothes from the room and the sight of her naked body aroused me just as much as before. Although she couldn’t get out of the apartment without getting past me, she was a clever girl so I wouldn’t put anything past her.

And I wasn’t finished with her yet.

“You took my clothes. Does that mean you plan on keeping me here?” She had one arm crossed over her voluptuous breasts, the other hanging in front of her sweet little pussy. Like that was going to keep me from taking what I wanted. Her attempt to maintain some of her dignity was adorable, my cock already throbbing from the thought of taking her again.

“Come here,” I instructed.

She hesitated, as I knew she’d do but even in the darkness with only the light of the moon coming in through the windows, I could tell she’d dropped her gaze to my fully erect shaft.

“I said. Come. Here. Do not make me ask you again.”

Her continued act of defiance was going to irritate me at some point. She would soon learn that she was fully under my control whether she was appreciative or not.

When she started moving in my direction, I put the glass on the bar, remaining at the window. She needed to follow my directions. I wouldn’t meet her halfway. That wasn’t my style.

“Are you going to allow me to leave?” she asked when she was only a few feet away, still far enough I wasn’t able to reach out and grab her without lunging forward.

“When I’m ready.”

“That’s not fair.”

“Who said anything in this life is fair, Candy?”

“Who are you?” She dared come to within arm’s reach. When she did, I dragged her close, pushing her up against the window.

“The question is who are you? Did you come here for a reason?”

She seemed to sense my question wasn’t about the noise level, but when her mouth twisted, I wrapped my hand around her throat.

“Do not lie to me again, Candy.”

“What do I have to lie about? I told you why I came. Now, I’m sorry that I did.”

“And Killian’s bar. What the hell are you doing in that place?”

A hint of confusion crossed her face. “I work there. That’s where the sandwich came from that you inhaled. Where the hell do you work, a prison? Oh, no. You should be the one behind the steel bars.”

I half laughed, squeezing for a few seconds then releasing my hold. “You don’t want to know details regarding my profession. I suggest you refrain from asking questions that could cause you distress.”
