The smile crossing his face highlighted his dimple, which I’d only seen a few times. He exuded sexuality, his scent rocketing through me. As usual, just when I wanted to hate him even more, he refused to allow that to happen.

“We’re here because this happens to be my favorite restaurant and I wanted to bring the most beautiful woman who’s ever been in my life to my second favorite delicacy.”

His words oozed of sexuality and truth, and I was suddenly breathless. “What’s your first?”

He leaned closer so he could whisper in my ear. “You, my printsessa. You.”

Kirill

Dangerous.

Some would say I enjoyed living dangerously. Perhaps I did. While what I’d told the stunning woman who graced my arm was the truth about my identity, there was always a chance that one or more of the customers inside would suspect my allegiance, especially after hearing my accent. While certainly not as pronounced as other members of the Bratva, any one of certain foreign accents was always a cause for curiosity if not alarm.

Given my keen observation skills, I’d know the status of our agreement with the Italians just by who was inside the restaurant. Friday nights were always busy, but I’d made certain the hostess knew that a table was going to be ready at precisely six-thirty. I slipped her several bills before she led us to our table, the view of the room perfect for my needs while also showing off my prize.

Candy’s perceptive nature was a strong part of her, so it was no surprise that she’d questioned my choice of this particular establishment. However, I also hadn’t lied to her. Seeing her in the dress, the light in her eyes and the way soft curls fell against her face had almost driven me into a frenzy. I wanted time with her outside of the normal confines of the bedroom.

For the first time, I craved getting to know someone.

What my little rebel didn’t know was that I knew more about what her driving force was than she realized. I’d found the paperwork on the audition, the music and lyrics she’d been asked to learn, the few lines she’d been required to memorize. It was a small part and the pay was atrocious, but hearing her tonight, I realized just how important it had been in her life. I’d never aspired to be anything else. Then again, I hadn’t been given the chance.

After we were taken to our table, I scanned every other one, able to identify at least four different individuals. I found it fascinating that the location was neutral. Not once had any blood been shed inside. From what I could tell, no business was being handled tonight. Then again, there wasn’t an Irishman in the room.

The waiter arrived within seconds and I ordered a second bottle of champagne without thinking. Then I noticed her look of fury.

“Don’t do that,” she said quietly, a smile remaining on her face. “I am perfectly capable of ordering myself.”

Everything about the woman drove me to a state of madness. “Fair enough, printsessa. Perhaps I was only trying to impress you.”

“You can impress me by telling me something personal about you. And I don’t mean about what weapon you carry. I also don’t care about your favorite color or what aftershave you like. I want something personal that will help me believe you’re anything but a killing machine.”

The light of fire in her eyes sparked the lust that had been building since the moment I walked into my private room, finding her punching on the bag. Nothing was going to break her, including me.

And I wanted her even more than before.

“How about food?” I asked, the only personal thing that came to mind far too toxic to discuss.

Candy wrinkled her nose. “Fine. What would that be? Let me guess. Italian food.”

Even the way she leaned over the table was sexy as hell, the slight shift allowing me to catch a delicious glimpse of her rounded breasts peeking over the bodice of her dress.

I rapped my fingers on the table. “Ice cream.”

It didn’t seem that my selection registered at all. Then she burst into laughter, her booming voice immediately drawing attention. I noticed and the insanely gorgeous bright pink spotting her porcelain skin forced my cock to twitch. She pushed the back of her hand across her mouth to muffle the sound, the same fire in her eyes burning into mine. “Ice cream?” she whispered. “A big he-man like yourself enjoys ice cream? What flavor?”

“Chocolate, of course. Decadent. Rich. Seductive.”

“Mmm… Maybe that’s what we need to have for dinner. Fine. I’ll play the game. How about movies?”

I waited as the waiter brought the champagne, unable to take my eyes off her. There wasn’t a single man in the room who wasn’t hungering for what I had.

For what I possessed.

I lifted my glass, ignoring the waiter’s comments. “Die Hard.”

“Now, that makes much more sense. Violence. Brutality.” She clinked her glass against mine, licking the rim before taking a sip. Even the way her long lashes brushed across her cheeks was alluring. Perhaps I’d drag her into the bathroom for a quickie.
