He burst into laughter, pulling me into his arms. I pressed both hands against his chest, cocking my head. “Won’t it be in poor taste to have the owner of the club fondling a woman in the middle of the casino?”
Frowning, he acted as if he was thinking about my question. Then he grabbed my hand. “You’re right. I think we need some privacy.” His hold firm, he guided me through the casino, ignoring various individuals who attempted to communicate with him.
When he led me down a hallway, I finally pulled away, laughing when he abruptly turned, giving me his usual dominating look. I backed away, enjoying the frustrated look on his face. I’d told myself that I would enjoy tonight, to free my mind from the sadness that had almost pulled me under.
Alexei had insisted that I stay with him, giving me space and freedom in his house, doting half the time, which had been more surprising than anything else about him. We’d talked. He’d allowed me to share my thoughts about Sarah. We’d laughed together, had far too much wine, and had faced the two dozen rounds of questions and the formal dropping of the charges against him together.
I’d refused to tell him exactly what I’d said to Judge Markham, but I had crossed the line with the man.
At least in terms of decency.
Perhaps that made me a bad girl, but I had a fabulous excuse.
I was in love.
The inner voice chastised me as it had done several times, but I didn’t care. Tonight was our night to enjoy. Whatever tomorrow would bring, we’d face together.
War.
Bloodshed.
Violence.
I’d been forced to accept it was now part of my world. His world. Our world. Was I terrified? Yes, but life itself was terrifying and unexpected. One thing I knew for certain, it was always unpredictable and short.
“I suggest you don’t tease me,l’vitsa,” he growled.
“And if I do?” I asked, backing away several feet.
He lifted a single eyebrow, giving me a heated look. Then he took two long strides, pushing me against the wall with ease. As he planted his hands on either side of me, he lowered his head.
“Then I guess I’ll need to punish you.”
“Should I be afraid?” I purred.
As he brushed his lips across mine, he issued another low and very husky growl. “Absolutely.” He crushed his mouth over mine, immediately slipping his tongue inside, the taste of bourbon and cinnamon filtering into my mouth. The man was even more intoxicating, enough so I was already lightheaded.
He dominated my tongue and as the passion increased, I couldn’t resist crawling my hand down his chest, sliding a single finger back and forth across the hard ridge of his cock. Filthy images rolled into my mind, butterflies swarming my stomach.
When he broke the kiss, he pinched my chin, staring into my eyes. “My very badl’vitsa.”
“I’m not bad. I’m the good girl. Remember?”
The twinkle in his eyes was unusual but added to his sexiness. Yet when he narrowed them, I could tell I was in trouble.

“Here? Now?”
He took my hand once again, half dragging me down the hall to his very private office. Once inside, he wasted no time pushing me over his desk, yanking my dress up to my waist. When he brought his hand down in rapid succession, I shivered, my core electrified. Tingling sensations washed through me as he smacked me several times, shifting his palm back and forth from one side to the other.
“You will obey me. Yes?” he asked, the deep tone of his voice creating a wave of heat between my legs.
“Perhaps.”
When he delivered several more, I couldn’t stop moaning, the wave of pain mixing with extreme pleasure driving me to the point of madness.
“Let’s try that again. You will obey me. Period. Do you understand?”
“Yes, sir,” I teased, although I knew I’d challenge him several times a day.
After all, I couldn’t seem to help myself. My big, bad, brutal monster had not only acquired a woman.
He’d managed to capture my heart as well.
Some would say until death do us part.
For me, I’d say until the end of eternity.
