Maybe it’s the area, or the fact tons of tourists are here all the time, but the service is definitely better. The waiters linger near our table, offering us more wine or water. No one has given me judgmental looks.

They’re definitely getting an excellent review from me.

My gaze turns towards Hunter, leaning back in his seat with his hands over his stomach, groaning while his head lulls from side to side. “So full,” he whines while grimacing.

I’m tempted to shove another bite into my mouth. The curried crab was to die for, the lamb in the cream sauce was exquisite, and I can definitely see myself eating the chocolate soufflé for the rest of my life.

But I don’t think there’sany wayI can cram any more inside.

“I still think pizza would have been better,” Seth grumbles from my other side.

I scowl at him, sitting there in his t-shirt and running shorts. That’s all he brought. Lucas offered to loan him something nice to wear, but Seth refused, not wanting to take any charity. If he wasn’t already incrutches,I would have smacked him on the top of the head and made him change into something nicer.

“Do you want to have a look on the top floor?” Lucas asks, already sliding his chair out and offering a hand in my direction.

I smile and take it, leaving Seth and Hunter groaning and grumbling in their seats. Lucas pauses in front of the waiter, who gathers up our half eaten plates and empty glasses.

“Can you charge everything to this card?” Lucas asks while handing him a credit card from his wallet.

“Of course, Monsieur,” says the waiter with a curt nod. “Was everything to your liking?”

“Yes,” Lucas, Hunter, and I answer in unison.

Seth grumbles in his seat.

I shake my head while Lucas guides me to the elevator. There’s a short line to go to the top floor and so we stop and wait. My gaze lingers on the room once more, enjoying the simple classiness of the restaurant.

“I want to thank you for today,” says Lucas while we follow the other guests onto the elevator.

I shake my head. “I don’t think I did anything.”

“If you hadn’t been there, I don’t think I would have ever stood up to my parents.”

The doors to the elevator slide close and I wait to respond while we go up to the top floor, my hand on Lucas’s tightening. As soon as the door dings open, we follow the group of people out. It’s windy at the top and my skirt blows, nearly exposing my panties to the tourists surrounding us.

Lucas chuckles and takes off his suit jacket, putting it on my shoulders, but I doubt it will help all that much. Well, at least it’s dark. I don’t want to give up this beautiful view. I’ll just tell Charlie when I return that everyone got to see my undies on top of the Eiffel Tower.

It’s not everyday someone can say that.

“All I did was run into the bathroom crying,” I say while leaning towards Lucas. We find an open spot near the railing. My eyes widen while I stare down at all the city lights.

Paris really is beautiful. Whether in the dark or the light.

It’s been a difficult start, but this place really is amazing.

“You make me want to be more than what my parents expect of me,” Lucas murmurs in my ear. “You make me want to stand up for what’s right.”

I chuckle and push my hair away from my face. “I should have said something to your parents.”

Lucas nods, a mischievous glimmer in his eyes. “Next time.”

I scoff. “There will be a next time?”

Lucas nods vigorously. “I have not heard the last of them. They’ll probably cut me off, make it difficult for me to survive. Once I show them I can live on my own, they’ll relentlessly call me, demanding for me to be a good boy and listen to them.”

I frown. “Will you be okay?”

Lucas sighs. “I hope so. I’ve never lived without their money or the Brent family name to flaunt. It will definitely be different.”
