“Hey,” I say while kicking the door closed, my voice invoking all my exhaustion.

“Hey,” the bros say in unison, sounding excruciatingly gloomy to my ears.

I kick off my shoes and trudge towards the couch, dumping my body between Hunter and Seth. Without bothering to ask for permission, I lay my head into Hunter’s lap and rest my feet in Seth’s. Hunter strokes my hair while Seth wrinkles his nose, trying to push my feet away, resulting in them thumping onto the floor.

“So, how was it?” asks Lucas between mouthfuls of pizza.

I groan.

“She didn’t seem that bad,” says Hunter.

“Yeah, what gives?” Seth asks bitterly. “I wanted burgers.”

“My mom is a people reader.”

Seth makes a face while Hunter chuckles.

“What does that even mean?” asks Seth.

“It means,” I say while pushing my body up. Hunter’s arms come around me and he pulls me fully onto his lap until my shoulder is resting on his chest and my head is in the crook of his shoulder. “My mom will figure out our secret if the four of us hang out together.”

Seth scoffs.

“You don’t know that,” says Lucas while circling around the couch and sitting on the floor in front of us.

“Oh, I do know that.” I bob my head up and down vigorously. “Which means we must be on our best behavior.”

Seth groans. “What does that mean?”

“It means we have to be careful,” says Lucas.

“Can’t you just tell her you’re boning all three of us?” Seth asks.

I stare at him as if he’s just asked me to tell my mother that I’m quitting school to join a nudist cult worshipping unicorn stuffed animals as the new Messiah. Yeah, I know it sounds crazy, because what Seth has just asked me is completely and absolutely crazy.

“No,” I say harshly, my voice shrill. “Are you kidding me?”

“No, I’m not kidding.” Seth crosses his arms and scowls back at me. “Why don’t we just come out and say it? We are all dating.”

I shake my head. “Have you told your Mom?”

Seth lurches away from me, his frown deepening, yet I’m keenly aware he isn’t answering me.

“Well?”

Seth looks away and I jerk towards Lucas. “Have you told your parents that you’re sharing me?”

Lucas shakes his head. “They’re already upset that I’m dating you, and for now, we aren’t speaking. Although, whatever I do, I’m sure they’ll thoroughly disagree with it.”

I look up at Hunter, finding him wincing.

“No, I haven’t told my dad,” he says without waiting for me to ask. “My therapist knows we’re dating, but she doesn’t know the extent of it.”

“Well, I don’t want to be a secret,” says Seth while bounding up from the couch.

“I don’t either, but I don’t think we’re ready to tell our families,” I say while pushing myself out of Hunter’s lap and off the couch.

Seth sighs while running a hand through his hair. “Alright, fine. So what do you want us to do?”
