“What was all that about?” Charlie asks while tapping her beer against my cup and taking a long swig.

I groan. “You don’t want to know.”

“Her mom found out about us,” says Lucas.

“Ooooh,” says Charlie while wincing. “Well, it was bound to happen sometime.”

“Where’s my beer?” Seth asks, scowling at Charlie.

Charlie shrugs. “You’re not my lady friend, Seth. Not to mention, I’m sure you’re more than capable of grabbing your own beer.”

“And Rachel’s not?” Seth asks while crossing his arms.

Charlie chuckles. “Like I said, she’s my lady friend. And I know this beer is top notch, un-roofied quality. We girls gotta look out for each other.” She winks at me, and I giggle, bringing my beer to my lips and taking a long swig.

Charlie loops her arm with mine and pulls me towards the tents. “So how did your mom find out,” she whispers in my ear.

I groan and take another long pull from my beer. Not even the beer can wash away my memories of that day. I can still see her horrified face standing in the doorway with all three bros surrounding me. It’s been nearly a month since she discovered us, and that day haunts me over and over again.

“Well?” asks Charlie as we stop in front of a large crowd surrounding a beer pong table.

I make a face. “She walked in on us.”

Charlie’s mouth drops open and her eyes nearly bug out of her sockets. “No,” she breathes.

“Oh, yes.” I take another drink from my beer. I don’t think one will be enough.

“With all three.”

“Yep.” My eyes narrow on Charlie’s lips twitching upwards. She throws back her head, bursting into a fit of laughter. I scowl at her, yet she doesn’t seem to notice. Snatching her beer from her hand, I down the contents in one long chug before finishing my own beer.

“Enough!” I shout when Charlie continues laughing, doubling over and wrapping her arms around her waist.

“It hurts!” Charlie shouts. “It hurts so much.”

“It’s not that funny.”

“It is!” Charlie gasps. “It so is.”

I look around for Lucas and Seth, finding them around the beer pong table, waiting patiently for their turn. Seth holds up a hand when his gaze lands on mine, offering a kind smile. Lucas watches the game intently, as if analyzing the players’ skill level.

Charlie inhales deeply, straightening herself while rubbing her stomach. “Oh, that just made my day.”

I roll my eyes. “Well, great for you.” I groan and turn on my heel. “I need another beer.”

Charlie chuckles and grabs my arm. “You and me both.”

We weave through the large crowd towards a tent filled with frat bros handing out cups of beer. They blast heavy metal music while bobbing their heads up and down. All five are wearing the same red baseball cap and the same purple cropped Aurora University shirts. Thin sunglasses cover their eyes, yet I can tell they are checking out every girl approaching them.

“Beer for you,” one shouts while holding it out to me.

Charlie presses his hand away. “No way. I’m pouring my own.”

The frat bros look to each other while Charlie grabs a cup next to the keg and pours one for me and herself. The one holding the beer out to me brings it to his lips, taking a large swig while watching Charlie work the spout. I roll my eyes as their gazes run up and down Charlie, lingering on her bottom before moving to her face.

“So, your mom isn’t really talking to you right now?” Charlie asks while holding out a beer for me.

“Exactly,” I say once Charlie has hers.
