RACHEL

Ishufflefromfoot to foot, picking at my nails as I rise up onto my tiptoes, trying to see where Seth and Hunter are. I only find several people standing on the escalator, looking bored and disheveled. None of their faces belong to my bros. The airport is busy with people dragging their suitcases back and forth. The bright lighting is aggravating my eyes and making my headache worsen. My stomach twists with worry, despite knowing that there’s nothing to be concerned about. According to my phone, their flight arrived safely about twenty minutes ago. My fingers twitch, and I find them sliding into my pocket and seizing the device. I flip through the flight information, my lips pursing as, once again, I see their flight landed twenty-one minutes ago.

“Don’t worry,” comes Lucas’s voice followed by a hand on my shoulder.

I turn to my right, finding his smile melting my insides and easing the tension in my shoulders. His hair is a bit wilder than when I first met him, due to him being unable to afford frequent haircuts. It curls around his ears, and I find myself wanting to run my hands through his locks, to feel the silky smoothness of it against my skin. He’s wearing a simple black sweater which hugs his ample muscles, with some faded jeans, the bottoms slightly frayed. His black coat is thrown over one arm.

“They’ll be here soon,” Lucas says with a wink.

Alex’s soft chuckle has me turning to my left, and I smile brightly up at him, watching as he stretches his arms above his head. A hint of blonde peaks through the roots, and the red dye is slightly faded, appearing more orange in the light. Somehow, he pulls it off, looking more like a bad boy these days than a son of a wealthy and well-known doctor.

“Yeah, I can hear Seth complaining already,” says Alex while flashing me a wicked grin, his eyes filled with mischief. “Why is it taking so long?”

I chuckle at Alex’s imitation of Seth’s voice. He places his hands on his hips and makes an angry face. “Damn bastards are moving so fucking slow,” he continues.

“Oh my God!” someone shouts angrily from the escalators, capturing our attentions.

I rise to my tiptoes once more, recognizing that loud voice. My eyes widen as I see Seth scowling from the top of the escalators, a backpack slung over one shoulder while Hunter yawns behind him. Seth’s hair spikes up on either side, looking wild and unkempt. He’s wearing running pants and a matching long sleeved shirt, with dirt covered tennis shoes as if he’s planning to go running as soon as we leave the airport.

Like Hell he will. I have a list of plans for us to enjoy and none of them involve running.

“Can these assholes move any slower?” Seth asks way too loudly, earning several glowers in return.

I glance at Alex, meeting his knowing gaze, and burst into a fit of laughter.

“I told you,” says Alex, chuckling.

I shake my head while Lucas’s snakes an arm around my waist. “We should get over there before Seth gets into trouble,” says Lucas as he pulls me along with him.

My smile widens, making my cheeks hurt as I meet Seth’s gaze. His scowl lifts, and he returns my smile, lifting his hand in the air and giving me a vigorous wave. “Hey!” he shouts excitedly.

My attentions lift to Hunter, who rubs the sleep from his eyes. His backpack rests on his shoulders with his coat tied around his waist, looking wrinkled. I guess his winter vacation hasn’t been so restful. Dark circles surround his eyes and the left side of his face is red and imprinted from pressing his head against the airplane window. He smiles groggily at me while twiddling his fingers.

As soon as Seth steps onto the ground he runs the final few steps, nearly knocking into Lucas as he throws his arms around my body. “Finally,” he breathes into my ear, making my heart flutter. “That took for fucking ever.”

I nod, my face nuzzling against his while my hands stroke his back. “It’s good to see you,” I whisper, enjoying his warmth.

Lucas struggles to pull his arm away from my waist. It’s been a while since we’ve been separated and sure, Lucas and Alex were with me the whole time, but it definitely wasn’t the same without loud and bossy Seth and easygoing Hunter. Not to mention the tension in the air. I grimace as I think of my parents, who are waiting back in the apartment and probably not talking to each other.

Christmas has been… interesting to say the least.

I don’t know how to describe it. I was perturbed when only Mom came to pick us up from the airport about a week ago, and then even more concerned when Dad wasn’t his usually jolly self. Something happened. Something neither of them wished to speak about in front of me. At least Dad didn’t know about my relationship with the bros. I had that going for me.

I shake my head, not wanting to think of my parents when I’m finally with Hunter and Seth. Seth pulls away from me, and I launch myself into Hunter, earning a grunt in response. His hands slowly come around me, his touch gentle as he kisses the top of my head.

“It’s so good to see you,” Hunter says tiredly.

I lift my head, meeting his blue eyes and refusing to move away. “You look sleepy,” I say with a pout.

Hunter groans, raising one hand to rub his head. “I am sleepy. It’s been a long week.”

“I can’t wait to hear about it all.” My hands slide away from him, and I hook my arm in Seth’s while lacing my fingers with Hunter’s. “Any suitcases for us to grab?”

Seth scoffs. “Please. Some of us know how to pack light.”

I roll my eyes while tugging Seth and Hunter forward. “Onwards to pizza!” I say while pointing the way with one foot.

Lucas chuckles while Alex stalks ahead.
