“That’s what you get for leaving your door open,” I called after him, reaching out to put a hand on Leo’s shoulder. “You okay?”

“Just as I suspected,” he said, cracking a grin, “he’s jealous.”

“And you like that?”

He shrugged. “It makes things interesting.”

We followed Elliot to the room, standing outside the door and looking in to find Elliot and Felix ganging up around some kid. Even though I couldn’t see his face, his voice sounded super familiar to me. It was irritating.

Squinting, I stepped into the room and past Felix and Elliot’s shoulders to find myself staring, face to face, with Jason. The argument faded into silence, and he smirked at me.

Just that one look was enough for me to remember the cup full of punch splashing onto my shirt. It made me want to spit on his.

“Well, well,” he said, “so it’s true. Youaretheir pet.”

“Jesus Christ, man. Get out,” Elliot practically shrieked at him, shoving Jason back to the door. Then he turned to face me. “You know each other?”

I snorted. “Barely.”

“Don’t be shy, Silver,” Jason laughed, leaning against the doorframe. “We go way back. Two days, at least.”

I rolled my eyes. The fact that he’d called me by my last name, that he even knew it, made my blood boil. I wasn’t even sure that my own roommate knew my last name, let alone remembered where I was from.

Elliot and his buddies were one thing—rich bad boys with complacent sense of fashion, known for hosting parties that made city raves look tasteless. But Jason was a different sort of popular. He was a broad-shouldered jock with bad BO. Of course, his golden ratio of a face and clear skin made the cut for girls like Vivian. It didn’t for me.

To me, he was a douchebag, through and through.

“What’s he doing here?” Elliot pressed, stepping toward me until we were inches apart, until I knew by looking into his eyes that for once, he was angry. Really, truly, livid. At some kind of breaking point.

“Chill,” Jason said. “Leave the emo chick alone. I’m here to make a deal. With you three.”

“Her name’s Kathleen,” Leo said.

“It doesn’t matter,” I muttered under my breath, shooting him a look. I just wanted to hear what Jason had to say as quickly as possible. Crossing my arms, I shifted my attention back on him. “What are you talking about?”

“Look,” Jason said. “I’m here on behalf of you-know-who.”

“Vivian,” I said, sounding bored. “Get on with it.”

“Yeah. Well, here’s the thing.” He clapped his hands together. “It was kind of my idea for her to send that video of you and, well, this guy…” he said, glancing at Elliot, “to your mom. And it was me who, well… took it.”

I raised an eyebrow at him, processing his words.

“Wait,” I said, stepping toward him. “You were the one who took the video?”

He shrugged. “Not bad for my first sex tape, if I do say so myself.”

My hand was already folded into a fist by the time it sliced across his cheek, and it sent his face swinging to the side. I felt strong arms pull me back.

“Hey, I’m not done!” I hissed, fighting away from Elliot and Felix’s grasps. “That was for Vivian.Thisone—” I stormed back up to Jason, and shoved my knee up into his groin, “—is for you.”

“Jesus!” he shrieked, cowering back against the wall, clasping his dick through his pants. “What the hell?”

“Youkindadeserved it,” I heard Leo snicker from behind. For some reason, that made me whirl around, and stare him in the eyes. He was smiling.

“He did, didn’the,” I said, stepping toward him. Suddenly, Leo tensed up, as if I were about to do the same to him. “And you deserve this.”

Grabbing him by the back of his neck, I tugged him toward me, clamping a sloppy kiss on his lips. I remained there, pressing myself against him, waiting for him to react. Because I knew he would. And he did.
