“All right, spill,” she tells me.

My brows furrow. “What are you talking about?”

“You're struggling with something. It's all over your face. What is it?”

I sigh heavily and shake my head. “Zayn showed up at our dorm this morning after you left.”

“Really?” she questions, shocked. “I didn't know that boy knew how to wake up any earlier than ten a.m.”

“Well, he does,” I murmur.

She takes a sip of her water. “So, what did he want? Another one of his hundred mood changes?”

“I guess you could call it that.” I spread my legs into a split to stretch out. “He said that Blade is dangerous and that I should stay away from him.”

Snorting, she rolls her eyes. “I feel like this is his go-to move when it comes to you being with anyone else. Didn't he say the same thing about Mason?”

I tilt my head to the side. “Kind of. He said he was a player. But I don't know. This felt different for some reason.”

“Wait,” she stops me. “You're not believing him, are you?”

I shrug. “You should've seen his face. I don't think I've ever seen him so scared. It was like my life was in danger or something.”

“Amelia,” she sighs. “Of course he's scared. He wants you, and you won't let him treat you like a damn yo-yo anymore. The only thing that boy is afraid of is not having you to fall back on whenever he feels like it.”

Throwing my head back, I groan. “I know, I know, but then why can't I get the look on his face out of my head?”

“All right, let's get back to work!” Chrissy's voice bellows throughout the gym.

Kennedy stands up and walks backward, facing me. “All I'm saying is Blade hasn't given you a reason not to trust him. You've looked happier over the last few days than you've been since the morning after you and Zayn hooked up. I'd just try talking to him about it.”

She's right, as usual, though I don't know if I'll be asking Blade about it. Who real

ly wants to be that girl who goes to her boyfriend with a rumor from a jealous almost-ex? I certainly don't. And besides, like Kennedy said, he's given me no reason not to trust him. But has Zayn?

SPENDING TIME IN THE fresh air while cuddled up with a boy is something I’ve always yearned for. Even in boarding school, I was too focused on my studies to even consider dating. It wouldn't have mattered if I had, though. They watched us all like hawks. Not a single move went unnoticed. Some thought there were hidden cameras all over the place, but no one could ever prove it. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if there were.

I wonder what hidden cameras would reveal about Blade. Zayn said he was dangerous, but he never said why or how. That could mean any number of things on a whole spectrum.

He cheats on his math tests.

He parties too much.

He has a temper when provoked.

He's a fucking serial killer.

Oh my God, the last one couldn't be true—could it?

“Babe?” Blade gets my attention, and I'm snapped back into reality. “Is everything okay?”

I rub my hands over my face and nod. “Y-yeah. It's just been a long day.”

He reaches over to rub his knuckle down my cheek, and it takes everything in me to fake a smile. Why am I looking for something wrong with him? Why the hell am I letting something Zayn said get to me? Granted, Mason did turn out to be a complete tool, but Blade is different. He's been nice to me, and not just when he's looking to get laid. Hell, we haven't even done more than kiss.

But that doesn't explain this uncomfortable knot in my stomach.

“Mm'kay.” He turns to face me. “Something's eating at you.”
