I walk outof the locker room feeling accomplished. One of the perks of carrying an oversized purse is that Carter's clothes fit discreetly inside. Kennedy and Amelia are across the courtyard, with Zayn, Easton, Jace, and Paige.

Perfect.

As I approach, Kennedy narrows her eyes at me with a smile, trying to read me like an open book. Only, she doesn't realize that I only give off what I want people to know.

"Oh God," she chuckles. "What did you do?"

"Nothing," I lie.

Amelia winces and watches me while talking to Kennedy. "Whatever it is, she looks proud."

"Poor Carter."

I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they both try to stop me, or at the very least attempt to talk me out of it. I mean, Carter is their friend after all. But so far, my pranks have been harmless to everything but his ego and reputation. And the two of them have found the humor in it. If they ever change their tune, however, I'll have to decide what's more important: them or revenge.

"Should we do something about this?" Zayn asks Jace.

Jace's eyes meet mine and he shakes his head. "Do you want to be her next target? Because that's what will happen if we get in her way."

"You always were the smarter one," I tell him.

Regardless of the fact that we seem to run in the same circle, Paige is still frosty toward me. Not that I blame her. I helped the prosecution try to send her boyfriend to prison for a crime he didn't commit. And besides, I don't like Carter, and we're friends with the same people. I don't need her to like me.

The conversation changes to something more neutral, and Kennedy is talking about cheering at the game this weekend. Whistles and catcalls in the distance grab Zayn's attention. He has a bottle of water to his lips when he looks over and chokes on his swallow. Everyone else turns to see what he's laughing at, and their jaws drop.

Carter is strutting his way across the courtyard in a hot pink spandex dress, the heels I left for him dangling from his fingers. The problem is, he's fucking owning it.

Easton breaks into hysterical laughter along with Zayn, and even Paige covers her mouth to hide her amusement. Kennedy and Amelia are staring with wide eyes and giant smiles on their faces. Jace, however, looks at me and smirks, seeing the irritation on my face.

"Hey, Trayland!" calls a guy from the football team. "Let me take you out tonight, baby."

Carter flips his non-existent long hair over his shoulder. "You couldn't handle this."

Without looking away from me, Jace puts his hand up and Carter high-fives him as he walks by. Humorless laughter bubbles out of me as I watch Carter walk off with his arms around Paige and Amelia.

Son of a bitch.

NOAH THROWS HIS HEADback in the middle of the restaurant, cracking up at my sad story. I grab a fry from my plate and throw it at him, but that doesn't help matters.

"It's not funny," I whine. "I wanted it to embarrass him. Instead, he worked it like a damn runway model."

His laughter dies down to a chuckle. "You have to admit, it's a little funny."

"It's not," I say with a pout.

Noah coos. "Aw, is someone's vengeful little heart hurt?"

As he reaches across the table to pinch my cheek, I smack his hand away. "Don't even. I fucked up at the party and let him come onto me. Granted, I kneed him in the balls after a few minutes, but I never should have allowed that. It gave him more confidence."

He snorts. "I thought you were going to say ballsy. It would have made for the greatest pun."

As I stare back at him with a straight face, he continues.

"Get it? Because you kicked him in the balls..."

"You don't take anything seriously, do you?"

A broad grin stretches across his face. "It's a great way to live. You should try it."
