I walk into the party, instantly spotting Davi within a few seconds. She's commanding the room, as usual, with everyone wrapped around her little finger. She's always had this way about her, like a snake charmer, mesmerizing everyone within viewing distance. Even I felt it at first, but after what I confirmed today, I now know that Davianna Sorrentino, my fucking fiancée, is nothing but a goddamn liar.

"Finally," she murmurs as she sees me. "Tyeler is studying for finals and wouldn't come with me. Can you believe the audacity of her?"

"Because it's a crime to want good grades?"

She scoffs. "Oh, honey. She's pretty andrich. Grades aren't important."

I could lecture her on the importance of an education, the same lecture my dad has always given me, but it would do no good. Davi is the epitome of a prima donna, and I don't see that changing any time soon.

"Listen," I start, "we need to talk."

Twirling her hair, she gives me an expectant look. "So talk."

"Somewhere a little more private. Let's go get in my car."

She rolls her eyes before walking out the door. I follow behind her as we head down one flight of steps, but she's clearly annoyed. Just what I need right now—her vicious attitude.

"I don't understand what's so important that we can't just talk here," she says as she stops one floor down and puts a hand on her hip. "We're just going to have to walk back up all these stairs to go back to the party after."

"I'm not going to the party," I say flatly.

Huffing, her jaw ticks. "Why not? Because Tyeler isn't here?"

The amount of jealousy she feels toward her own best friend is sad, but I can’t get into that right now. Instead of having an argument in the middle of the staircase, I grab her wrist and pull her into the nearest room. It's the common area for everyone on this floor, but thankfully they're all at the party.

"First of all, stop thinking every decision I make is because of her," I growl. "Since the second you told me you're pregnant, I dedicated all of my attention to you and gave you no reason to think Tye is anything more than a friend. I even proposed to you,for fucks' sake!"

"Oh, please. I see the way you look at her." She puts a hand on my chest and pushes me up against the wall. "You want her so bad you can't fucking think straight."

"No." My gaze locks with hers. "The reason I can't think straight is because I just found out the last three months of my life have been a lie."

Her breath hitches, but I'm not done.

"There's no baby. There never was. You made it all up,and for what? To trap me?"

She tries to play it off, taking a step back. "Are you kidding me right now? You think I would lie about being pregnant at eighteen years old? Why would I do that?"

"Save it, Davi," I bark. "I went to the OB-GYN today. The one listed on your ultrasounds. They have no record of you ever being a patient."

"Have you ever heard of HIPPA laws? They can't tell you that."

I expected that answer and came fully prepared because of it. I pull a pregnancy test, still in the wrapper, out of my back pocket and hold it up. Her eyes widen the second she sees it.

"Then take this," I say, as if it's no big deal. "Right now. Right in front of me. We'll go into the co-ed bathroom. If you're really pregnant, then it's no big deal."

Her mouth opens and closes while she tries to figure out how to respond to that. "I-I don't have to pee right now."

"Funny," I murmur, "I would think by the smell of your breath, all that alcohol you've been sneaking while supposedly pregnant has been going straight to your bladder." Taking a step closer, I tower over her. "Face it, Davi. You're busted. I've already called my parents and canceled the wedding. I'll let you decide what you want to tell yours, but if it's anything that paints me in a negative light, I promise you I'll make sure everyone knows the truth."

As I go to walk away, she grabs my wrist. "No, Carter. Don't do this. I love you."

I yank myself from her grasp. "You don't love anyone but yourself."

Making my way down the stairs, she follows closely behind me. It isn't until I get a little distance on her and pass Jace that she stops.

"Fine! Fucking leave!" she shouts. "Asshole!"

Thanks for the permission, bitch.
