Beverly watches as I go through the rest of her things and quickly locate the bottles of liquor Tye has hidden. I line them up on the floor, carefully surveying the room to see if I’ve missed any good hiding spots.
"Can you dispose of those for me?"
She sits on her bed, looking at them like she's never seen a bottle of alcohol before. "I-I'm underage."
"I'm not asking for you to drink it, Bev. Just pour them down the drain in the bathroom. Trust me, no one will bat an eye."
Her arms wrap around her stomach, and she shakes her head. "I'm sorry. I can't."
"Okay," I say calmly.
I gather the bottles in my arms and open the door, grabbing the attention of the first person I see.
"Here. You want these?"
The girl narrows her eyes at me. "Are they poisoned?"
"What?" Where does she think we are? "No. I'm just trying to get rid of them."
She looked at the four full bottles and shrugs. "Sure."
I hand them over to her and let the door swing shut. "There. They're gone. But can you do me a favor?"
Bev's brows raise. "Another favor?"
"For me this time?" I give her my best smile, but she seems unaffected. "If you see her with any more alcohol, text me."
Writing down my number on a piece of paper, I hand it to her. She looks it over for a second and purses her lips.
"What's in it for me?"
I shrug. "What do you want?"
"Well, more money certainly wouldn't hurt," she suggests.
Chuckling, I shake my head. "Not going to happen. I already gave you more than double what your car was worth. But how about an exclusive invite to Zayn Bronsyn's next party?"
"I don't go to parties."
I back out of the room with the diary in hand. "That's a shame. They're a lot of fun."
She follows me and holds the door open as I head for the exit.
"Thanks, Bev!" I call back.
"You're welcome...I guess."
Helping me is probably one of the last things she wants to do, one step above letting Tyeler borrow whatever new car she purchases, but that doesn't matter. All that does matter is keeping Tye safe, and that happens to mean sober, too.
