“What the fuck are you doing here?”

I open my mouth to answer him, but someone else beats me to it.

“I asked him to come.”

Delaney steps into the room with Knox in tow, and if looks could kill, Easton would be a rotting corpse by now.

The sound of my phone ringing pulls me from the only place I get to spend with Tessa—dreamland. Maybe that’s pathetic, that I crave sleep so I can pretend we’re still together, but it’s all I’ve got. I glance at the clock. 3:43 a.m.

“Hello?” I ask, without even looking to see who’s calling.

“Asher.”

Pulling the phone away from my ear, I check to make sure it is who I think it is.

“Delaney?”

A sob rips through her. “Asher, something’s wrong. Tessa’s on her way to the hospital. It’s bad. It’s really bad.”

I sit up, suddenly wide the fuck awake. “Wait, what? Calm down. Tell me what happened.”

She’s frantic, that much is clear. “I don’t know. Zayn called Knox and woke us up. He said that something happened to Tessa and she’s on her way to the emergency room. He thinks she overdosed.”

I’m already out of bed and throwing on my clothes by the time she finishes talking. “Okay, Laney? I need you to put Knox on the phone. Don’t worry, she’s going to be all right. Just, put Knox on.”

The sound of her crying fades as she hands the phone over. “Hello?”

“Where are you and what’s the closest airport?”

“T.F. Green in Providence.”

I scribble down the information on a notepad. “Okay. Pack a bag and start heading there. Tell them you have a private jet waiting for you. It’ll get you here the fastest without having to worry about security and all that.”

He thanks me and the two of us get off the phone. As I grab the things I need, I call the company Colby and I use whenever we fly private and put a jet on standby at T.F. Green.

“Delaney? How the hell are you even here? I thought you were in Rhode Island,” he asks.

She scoffs. “And I thought you had some common fucking sense. I asked you to be there for her, not give her access to a whole damn pharmacy!”

“It’s not…I didn’t…It was an accident.”

Taking a step closer, she genuinely looks like she’s about to hit him. “I’ll show you a fucking accident.”

Sure enough, she rears back and kicks him directly in the balls. Every guy in the room winces as he hunches over and falls to the ground, only for her to stand above him.

“How could you be so stupid?”

He groans in pain as he looks up at Knox. “Dude, a little help here?”

Knox crosses his arms over his chest. “Yeah, I’m going to pass. And besides, I’m next.”

Delaney smirks at Easton, as if she’s mentally telling him he’s screwed. Meanwhile, Zayn walks over to Knox and gives him a hug. I don’t know much about the black-haired guy, but he’s not defending Easton, so it’s that he’s not happy with him either.

“I’m looking for the family of Tessa Callahan?”

Laney’s whips around to face the doctor standing in the doorway. “I’m her sister.”

The doctor tilts her head and glances at Easton, who is still on the ground and whimpering in pain. “Should I be concerned?”
