Pausing by the door, he turns back toward me as if he can sense my eyes still watching him. “Asra, I,” he taps the frame with his knuckles a few times, “I’ll be in the kitchen if you need anything.” He gives me one more look before disappearing out the door and pulling it shut behind him.

Sighing, I sink beneath the bubbly heaven.

My fingers and toes are all pruny by the time I emerge. I dry off, then use the way too fancy toilet. Just before I flush, I notice the almost rust color. My hand stalls.

“Breckin said there was blood.” Blood. Yeah. I can just blame it on that, even though I know there was no blood when I wiped. Shaking my head, I flush. If it’s still that dark in another day or so, I’ll call Dr. Schultz and schedule an appointment. I probably should make a follow up on last Friday’s emergency visit, anyway.

Glancing around the bathroom, I find a new toothbrush, face soap, and lotion on the vanity.

“He really does always think of everything.”

Smiling, I finish getting around, then look to see if there are any clothes. Nada. Guess he’s not quite as always prepared as I thought. I shrug and pull on the same white T-shirt from earlier, I’ve only worn it for maybe an hour, and it’s not like I plan on going anywhere today. A pair of undies would be nice, though. After drying my hair as best I can with a towel, I make my way to the kitchen.

All the food has been put away and dishes done. Sitting in the same place he was when I woke up, Breckin types away on his laptop.

“Hey.” I stroll right up to him rather than lingering like last time.

“Hey. Hi.” He swivels on his stool. Wrapping one arm around my waist, he tugs me closer and kisses me. “How was your bath?”

“Wonderful. Thank you.” I smile as I return his hug.

“Do you feel better?”

I’m so relaxed, I haven’t even thought about it. I do a quick mental check. Stomach, head, vagina, even my rear barely aches. “Much better.”

His gaze dips down. My body heats.

“Come here.”

I expect him to pick me up and set me on his lap again or kiss me senseless. Instead, he closes his laptop and tucks it under his arm. Taking my hand with his free one, he guides me to his bedroom. Propping himself up in the middle of the bed with his back against the headboard, he sets me on his lap.

My body hums with anticipation. Tingles radiate up my bare legs, coalescing in my vajayjay. Biting my bottom lip, I run my fingers over his sweatshirt as I peer up at him.

His head falls back as he chuckles. “Fuck, Sweetheart. If you didn’t need to rest.”

I trail my hand over his abs. They flex under my touch. “I don’t need to rest. I need you.”I don’t know where this bold side of me came from.

Closing his eyes, he bites his bottom lip. “Honey, if I hadn’t seen the blood all over Brendan’s dick, we wouldn’t have let you sleep at all last night, and I would still be buried deep inside you right now. You need to rest.”

I growl. His words, a rejection, should cool my body like a blizzard. Or at the very least, push my health into the forefront of my concerns. Instead, like magma, my blood boils in my veins. His dick jolts below me, earning another moan as I bite my bottom lip.

“Rest.” He runs his hand through my hair, guiding my head to his chest.

Rest. I don’t want rest. Still, I cling to him, content for even this small connection. Eventually, I close my eyes. Listening to his steady heartbeat, I fall asleep.

When I stir sometime later, I’m curled in a ball, my head on his lap. Blinking a few times, I glance around. With his knees up and laptop perched on them, Breckin awkwardly types away. Stretching, I quickly wipe my face to check for drool. Not too bad, at least I didn’t leave a puddle on his sweatpants.

“Hey.” He smiles down at me.

“Hey,” I yawn, “how long was I out for?”

“You’ve been sleeping about three hours.”

Hmm. Normally, I only nap for two hours or I sleep all day. “Sorry I fell asleep on you.”

I shift to move, but he strokes my hair and back lazily with one hand. “Don’t be. I enjoy having you on my lap.” He types another sentence, then switches to a different screen.

“What are you working on?” I shift to get a better view of his screen, but he picks me up, placing me on his lap so I straddle him backwards.
