“Um, what do you guys want to drink?”

“Coffee?”

“Yeah, um,” I glance back into my kitchen, “I don’t own a coffee maker. I can make tea?”

He yawns, then glances at the clock before looking out the window at his house.

“You want to go make coffee, don’t you?” I laugh, following his gaze.

“Yeah,” he turns to me, “it will only take a minute or so.”

“Go.” Reaching up, I kiss him. “Everything will still be here.” Besides, Brendan isn’t even awake yet.

“You’re amazing.” Holding my shoulders, he kisses me again. “I’ll be right back.” He places one more kiss on my forehead, then slips on his shoes and heads out the back door.

From the dining room window, I watch as he jogs next door. After he disappears inside his house, I sigh and head back to the kitchen. Pulling out my tea kettle, I fill it with water and make myself a chai latte.

Returning to the window, I blow on my steamy mug and take a sip.

“Who are you spying on?” A sleep-filled, gravelly voice whispers in my ear.

I jump, almost dropping my mug. Instead half of the scalding contents spill all over me as I yelp.

“Woah!” He reacts immediately. Grabbing my mug, he sets it on the edge of the table, then yanks my soaked shirt over my head. My chest burns as he takes my hand and rushes me to the kitchen. Grabbing the washcloth sitting out on the sink, he runs it through cold water, then presses it to my already pink flesh.

I jerk from the freezing cloth, but as it soothes the burn, I relax. “Asshole,” I mutter, taking the cloth and ringing it out with more cold water before I reapply it to my bare chest.

“Yes, you have a nice one.”

“Whatever,” I shake my head, staring up into his blue eyes that shimmer with all types of illicit thoughts, “you scared the shit out of me.”

“Really?” Without warning, he yanks my underwear down, leans around me and glances at my rear.

“Seriously?” I slap his shoulder and tug my panties back up with my free hand.

He laughs, but his face turns serious when he stands upright. “Sorry, Asra. I didn’t know you were carrying anything.” Leaning down, he hugs me.

I melt into his embrace, hugging him back with my free hand.

“I’m gone five minutes and you already have her topless?” Breckin declares from the doorway.

I jerk out of his grasp, dropping the rag and watching as he enters carrying two travel mugs.

“Shit, what happened?” He sets the cups on the island and rushes over to me.

“She spilled her tea.”

“He scared me.”

“Let me take a look.” He gives his brother a pointed look before kneeling down and examining my pink flesh. “You’re lucky,” he glances up at me, “it’s just a first degree burn. I don’t see any blisters. Just to be safe, do you have any burn cream?”

“Um, I think in the first-aid kit in the bathroom.”

“I’ll be right back.” Standing, he darts through the house, returning a moment later with a small, plastic box. Opening it on the counter he rummages through it before pulling out a tiny tube. “This might be cold.” His eyes meet mine again before he drops to his knees. With gentle strokes, he applies the cream all over my burnt chest. “There. That should help.”

When he stands and washes his hands, I can’t help but notice the giant tent in Brendan's sweatpants.

“What?” He shrugs. “He was on his knees playing with your titties.”
