“But it’s not full circle,” Seb said with a sigh. “Full circle was only me and you. Oh, and the god of speed.” A mobile chimed and Seb walked to the sound and turned.

“Probably Lacey saying Blake has held her up.”

I nodded. “God of speed, do we still believe that is Gray Trent?”

“Or Blake?” Seb tapped his fingers on the door. “He wasn’t around the first two lives, as Blake anyway.”

I narrowed my eyes at Seb, feeling the crease between my brow as I did.

There was a deep furrow on Seb’s forehead. His lips curved down at the corners. “All I know is he was the man who was the reason for Lacey and I to die and start the chain of events that got us to this life.”

“The gods would never have allowed you and Lacey, you realise that,” I said. It was hardly the god of speed that was the problem. The issue was Lacey was a god and Seb an angel.

Seb grinned. “Yeah, I forget that sometimes.”

“And the dark king?”

“Possibly the same,” he said. “We may never find out until we go to war with him. I should get that call.” He pointed to the lounge.

I waited as Seb took the call, thinking over the whole situation. From the very first life to this, there had always been a problem.

“Was it Lacey?” I asked, as I strolled into the lounge the same moment Seb disconnected the call.

He shook his head. “It was Clay, asking for Lacey. He needs to speak to her urgently. I told him she was with Blake,” Seb said, standing up and strolling into the kitchen. He stopped and leaned against the doorway. “Clay said fuck and slammed the phone down.”

When Clay said fuck... we were doomed.

My mobile rang. I leaned over, looked at the caller. Raised my eyes to Seb.That was quick.I hit the answer button. “Hi Clay.”

“What time is Lacey due home?” Clay barked down my mobile.

“Anytime now. I’ll get her to call the moment she gets back.”

Clay huffed and cursed, and I waited because I knew eventually he would say something. “Lacey only has three fated mates,” Clay said, and I nodded. We all knew that, what we didn’t know was if Ryan was a new fated mate and would only reveal in this life.

“Yeah, funny we were just talking about that, wondering if Blake is secretly the god of speed because Blake wasn’t around to our knowledge until a later life.”

“The three of you are her fated mates. The books have confirmed she only has three, not three, plus the dark king. Three, including the dark king.”

“Ah fuck,” I hissed.

“Which means one of you is the dark king.” Clay sighed loudly. “And as Blake is the only one not to live in Lacey’s warded home… I think she is about to break the spell with him, which may change everything. You need to stop it. Where are they?”

“Fuck. Blake is the dark king...” I yelled.

Seb pushed his hand through his dark hair, his chocolate eyes blackened with anger.

We didn’t know where they were. “Shit, I’ll call Jack and find out.”

“Be quick Kane. You and Seb need to use the power the gods gave you to save her.”

I pushed the thought of Lacey and Blake binding to the back of my mind. There was a chance it was already done, unless she realised and tried to stop it. She was due back home. But she wasn’t, and that was a problem.

“Did you get the gist of that conversation?” I asked Seb.

He nodded. “And I can’t speak to her. I’ve just tried. I need to visit Clay. You call Jack and sort Aria out and I’ll be back and we can find her.”

I had to find the power given to me by the gods. It was easy for Seb. He was a fallen angel; he found his evil side easily. Me, I had to find the strength to fight evil with every bit of light I possessed.
