“She knocked on the door and said you wanted me to join you in the shower. I actually laughed and was just going to watch you, but I got a little more than I bargained for. I now regret that I didn’t drag her out of there by the hair like I wanted to,” she said with a cocked brow.
“I wish you had,” I grumbled.
“No, you don’t, because after I had whooped her ass, I would’ve gone after you. So you’re lucky I had time to cool down.” She shot me a smirk, and relief caused my shoulders to droop.
“Move your shit into my room,” I said without stopping to think.
Her eyes popped wide. “What?”
“You heard me. I don’t know why I didn’t have you do it immediately. If you’d been in there, none of this would’ve happened,” I said as I damn near pouted.What the hell is happening to me?
A brilliant smile lit her face before she tugged that piercing with her teeth. “You want me in your room?”
I boldly stepped closer and wrapped her in my arms. The feel of her soft curves against the planes of my body was heavenly. I was pretty sure I could hold her all day, every day, and never get tired of the feeling.
“Yeah. As a matter of fact, after we get this shit all sorted, I want to look for a house we can move into,” I admitted.
Her gaze became wary. “You want us to get ahousetogether?”
“Laila, what part of ‘you’re mine,’ or ‘I love you,’ or ‘I’m never letting you go again’ did you not understand?”
“None of it, but are you sure it’s not too sudden?”
“Absolutely not. You’ve been mine since you were eight years old. We’ve already lost and wasted too much time. If there is anything I’ve learned, it’s that life is too fucking short. When you find that special person, you hang on and never let go. I thought I lost you once, Laila-Lila. I’m not doing it again.”
She rested her cheek against my chest and hugged my waist tight. “I love you,” she said against my shirt. The last of my anger at Reya and the position she’d put me in dissolved in the feel and scent of the woman in my arms.
I kissed the crown of her head. “I love you too.”
