“Oh right.” Savannah looked at me confused. “On second thought Mum, I’m not that hungry. I’ll just grab something when we're back from our ride. Come on Lib, let’s get the horses ready.”

I smiled at Aunt Claire and followed Savannah outside.

“What was all that about?” Savannah asked, hands on her hips.

I sighed, knowing I’d have to tell her. “I was asking Aunt Claire about Mason,” I said quietly. “She got suspicious, wanting to know why I was asking about him, then she warned me off him, saying he was too old for me.” I looked down to the ground.

“Libby, whywereyou asking? You do like him, don’t you?”

I looked at her, taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly. “Yes. I’m attracted to him. He’s gorgeous.”

She smiled widely at me. “I knew it!”

“I don’t want to be attracted to him, though. He’s the complete opposite of what I want or need.”

“What do you mean?” She asked me looking confused.

“I’ve spent the last four years watching Mia have her heart broken over and over again by guys who treated her badly and messed around on her. I swore to myself that I’d never get involved with a guy like that. I don’t know Mason, but from what you’ve told me he’s a player and a lady’s man. I can’t risk falling for him, my already broken heart couldn’t stand it.” I told her truthfully.

“You’re not Mia though Libby, you’re you and a guy who isn’t a player can break your heart. Sometimes you’ve just got to take a chance and hope for the best. It won’t always work out but what if it does? You just have to have the courage to try.” She smiled sadly at me. I knew that she was thinking about her and Josh.

“I know Sav, but it’s easier said than done.”

She took my arm and gave me a small smile. “Come on let’s saddle up the horses.”
