“Me neither,” I admitted, sighing. I loved being in his arms, I felt safe there, and safe was something I hadn’t felt in a long time. Every time we were together he managed to touch me in some way, be it, holding my hand, hugging me or touching my face. He was making it very hard for me to resist him and I think he knew it.

“I’d better go sweetheart. I’ll see you later at dinner?” He asked pulling back from me slightly so he could see my face.

“I’ll be there. Thanks again… for everything.”

He smiled at me and leaned down to kiss my cheek “Bye.”

I watched him go, and as I turned to head into the house, I saw Jack on the porch watching me.

“You sure there’s nothing going on Lib?” He asked sceptically. “You can tell me.”

“There’s nothing going on. He’d like there to be but what’s the point. I’m only here on holiday.” I didn’t want to tell him what was really holding me back. I was seeing no signs of his player ways, maybe Savannah had him all wrong, and my first impressions of him had been unfair.

“I see the way he looks at you Lib. I think he really likes you.”

“I like him too, but there is no point opening myself up to more hurt. It can’t go anywhere.”

“Lib you’ve got to open yourself up to someone at some point. What would Mia say if she were here?”

I burst out laughing. “Mia would be telling me to jump his bones! You know what she was like.”

“Eww Lib, that’s not a visual I want in my head!” He grimaced.

“Well, you did ask!” I paused. “I really like him Jack, but I can’t get hurt, I already hurt too much. And I would end up hurt when the time came to go home.” I told him a little irritated that he was pushing me.

He put his hands up in defeat. “Okay Lib, but he seems a really nice guy.”

“Where has all this come from Jack? I can’t believe that you, my overprotective big brother, is encouraging me to pursue a guy I’ve known for less than a week.”

“I can see the chemistry between you two, I’m not blind, and I just want to see you happy that’s all.”

“I know, and I want to be happy. I’m just not sure that Mason is the answer.”

Aunt Claire appeared outside. “Come on you two, I’ve got cake and cold drinks inside.”

Jack linked his arm with hers, and I followed them inside, confused even more over my feelings for Mason.
