“I was,” I say.

And it’s the truth. Immediately after I got back from the cruise, I had been so high on life. I thought that with Erika’s father being dead and the Thunder Crows are done aside from the ones who went to follow under Erika. Her father had brought a lot of them out with him to California because of a rivalry with the Savage Reapers, another motorcycle club and mafia duo. Erika and Brett, one of her guys, combined the clubs into one, and they’re just a regular ole motorcycle club. No mafia affiliation whatsoever anymore.

But if I’m not having a dream about Rob and his cock and wicked smile and luscious mouth and tantalizing fingers, then I’m dreaming about all of the horrible things you would think a mafia is capable of, especially with people who try to leave. Not that my mom or I had ever been affiliated with the Thunder Crows, but my father had been.

And I can’t help being worried about what he’s capable of.

Because I never did get around to admitting something to Erika. She asked me once to find out who her father had left in charge of the Thunder Crows when he went to California.

And the answer had been my father.

There’s no way that they would rally behind my father, not after all the shit that hit the fan with Mr. Slade. My father can be intimidating as shit, but still, my father isn’t a leader. Mr. Slade had to have picked my father because he knew my father wouldn’t be able to usurp him.

Right?

I just don’t know if my father will ever sign the divorce papers. My mom signed them. Can you get a divorce in Texas with only one signature? It’s probably possible, but I bet it would require a lot of time and money, and if it means my mom would have to return to Texas, then forget it. Besides, she’s living in Europe under. Fake name. She can just go about her life and forget all about her first husband. If she were to get married again, yes, she would be committing polygamy, but who cares? Look at Erika! She’s with four guys, and I’m sure that if she could legally marry them all, she would.

“Do you need me to come out there and visit you?” Erika asks.

“Visit me? No way. Your semester just started, too, and you’re way too busy with all of those cocks—”

I slam into someone hard, so hard that I almost drop my phone.

And when I see who I plowed into, I almost drop my phone again.

I blink and blink and blink again and even pinch myself because I cannot believe what it is that I’m seeing, but he’s still there, with that black hair of his, just long enough for me to grab, and blue eyes that pierce through me.

Fuck me. How in the hell is Rob standing right in front of me?

CHAPTER4

I forcemyself to act all natural as I say in a rush, “I’ll have to call you back,” and I hang up before Erika can answer.

Rob stares at me, his upper lip curling back. “You should watch where you’re going.”

“Considering I wasn’t even walking on the sidewalk but the grass, I would like to know how it is that you were in my way,” I say. “And why should I have to be the one to move out of the way? Why do guys always think they should just keep on walking and everyone else will get out of the way for them?”

My heart pounds loudly in my chest as I stare up at him. I had forgotten how tall he is. Granted, just about everyone is taller than I am, given that I’m five foot even, but he’s well over a foot taller than I am.

Does he even recognize me?

Do I want him to?

“Must girls always act like they’re the injured party?” he asks.

I roll my eyes. “I’m sure I hurt you so damn badly. Maybe your ego because I’m not falling over myself to apologize for having bruised your—”

“You walked into me, not the other way around.”

“So you say.”

“I wasn’t even walking,” he says with a smirk. “How could I have walked into you?”

My jaw drops. Is he serious?

And that damn smirk. It looks just as sexy as I remember.

I hate him.
