“Fucking all of you?” My mind is blown. “Ah…”

Gabe bursts out laughing. “You look terrified!”

“I’m not,” I protest. I take a long swig of the drink. “Why would any of you terrify me?”

“Maybe you should be terrified of me,” Gabe says, sounding much more sober now.

“Why would you say that?” I ask curiously.

“Maybe because I… When I was younger, I was kidnapped along with my best friend. We were playing in my front yard, and a van pulled up… I was maybe seven or eight. I don’t know. It’s a bit of a blur, but I managed to escape, and Logan… Logan wasn’t quite so lucky. They found his body a week later.”

“Fuck, Gabe, why not bring down the entire party?” Zac asks.

I gape at Ace, who nods. Can’t outrun your past. Fuck me.

“Did they ever find the kidnapper?” I ask, my voice shaking.

“No,” Gabe says, “but you better believe that if I ever find the guy, he won’t just have a broken nose. I’ll kill him.”

“I’ll help bury the body,” I say seriously.

“Fuck, I like you,” Gabe says.

“I would like you even more if you would give us the room,” Rob says.

“Yeah, yeah.” Ace reaches for his cup, which I’ve emptied somehow. He chuckles. “No more for you.”

“Yes, sir.” I wink at him, feeling a little looser now.

“Be careful with that one,” Zac tells Rob as he points at me. “I think she’s a bit reckless and wild.”

“Neither of which sounds like a bad thing if you ask me,” I say with a laugh.

“Get out,” Rob says, his tone mock angry, and the guys laugh as they leave the room. Rob grins at me. “So… why exactly were you so desperate to get ahold of me?”

Shit. I do and I don’t want to answer this question because if I have to admit how much he means to me, I’ll lose any semblance of control that I have in our relationship.

If we have a relationship.

If I have any control or power.

Because one look into his blue eyes, and I swear I’m a goner, and I’m staring into this stunning blue orbs right now.

Yeah, I’m fucking gone.

CHAPTER34

I swallow hard. “I wanted…”

“Sex?”

I can feel myself grow flush. “Rob…”

“There’s nothing wrong with wanting to have a healthy sex life,” he says.

“What I want is to know where I stand with you,” I say in a rush. “Because my life is all kinds of messed up right now, and I can’t… I won’t be able to handle just being a booty call. I need more than that, Rob, and if you can’t give me that…”

“I know I said I didn’t want to date you,” he says, “and I meant it when I said it, but honestly, I said that because I was afraid.”
