And wanting him was nothing new, but Nina knew she had not been this sensitive before. That every time he breathed, her body reacted like this. With a greedy, encompassing joy that she couldn’t have contained if she’d tried.

It felt like a gift.

She was limp and sobbing when he finally rose up. He looked down at her like that bronze mask, passion making his features almost stern. If it weren’t for that glittering heat in his green eyes, she might have found him frightening.

But she could see how much he wanted her. Looking at the hard jut of his sex made her flush hot all over again.

Zeus pulled her legs around his waist, then angled himself down onto the bed. He propped himself up on one arm and gazed down at her. His chest was moving like hers, like breathing was hard. His gaze was possessive. Commanding.

And all she wanted to do was melt against him, then ask for more.

He gripped his sex with his free hand and guided himself to her entrance. Then he stroked her there, with that hardest part of him that felt to her like bronze.

For a moment their eyes met, and the blaze of intensity there almost sent her over the edge again.

Almost—but then he thrust inside, filling her completely at last.

At last.

Nina could no longer tell if she was at the edge or over it, so intense were the sensations, so wild was this fire.

She gripped his arms as he moved over her, setting a slow, deliriously intense pace.

A rhythm she could feel everywhere, inside and out.

And the dance had been a fairy tale, but this was something better. She didn’t think it was hormones any longer, not when her chest ached the way it did and every stroke seemed to open her up more inside. Her heart. Her poor heart.

But it was worth breaking if she could have this.

He dropped his head to pull one nipple into his mouth, hard enough that the electric jolt of it seemed to travel straight down her body into the place where they were joined. And once again, she was sent hurtling.

Hurtling and hurtling, and she heard him shout out her name as he followed.

He flooded her, and she cried out as she shook and shook.

It wasn’t until she’d recovered herself some little bit that she realized what she’d said. The secret she’d been carrying all along.

“I love you,” she had told him, again and again. “I love you, Zeus.”

And she was terribly afraid she’d ruined everything.
