“Yes,” she says. “I know my father works for you. Has he…is he okay?”

I close the distance between us. “When was the last time you spoke with him? And don’t even think about lying to me.”

Despite her naked trepidation, her blue eyes flash with affront and something kicks in my gut. She’s spirited. I like that. A lot.

“I wasn’t thinking of lying. I haven’t seen my dad for a couple of days. I assumed he was away on business.”

“And he hasn’t called or messaged you at all?” I push, trying not to let the innocence pulsing from her every pore overwhelm me. It’s hard but I manage it. Just about.

“I…no. And if that was all you wanted to know, you could’ve told your goon to ask me and saved us both time.”

Plucking the rucksack off her shoulder, I toss it on the floor. Her eyes flash at me again and I barely stop myself from grinning.

“Questioning you wasn’t the only reason I had you brought to me.”

Her gaze widens some more and clings to mine and I stifle another groan because I want her lookingjust like thatwhen I pound into her.

“W-what other reason am I here for then?” she asks. “I don’t know anything about my father’s work.”

“I know you don’t. But that doesn’t alter the fact that he’s done a very bad thing, Skye. Something that demands recompense. And punishment.”

She starts to take a step back. I catch her by the wrist to halt her movement. Her gaze darts to where I’m holding her and I feel her tremble.

Christ. She’s a fucking lamb and this hungry wolf isn’t going to stop until I have her.

“What’s that supposed to mean? I told you—”

“Your father stole from me. I was having him watched but the bastard slipped through my fingers. Any ideas where he’s hiding?”

The weight of my words sinks in further and lips purse stubbornly as she shakes her head. “I don’t believe you. He…he wouldn’t do that. He was a bit pissed off at the long hours you kept him working, but my father is not a thief.”

I bark out a laugh. “Long hours? Your father has barely made it to the office before ten a.m. in the last few months. And the times he doesn’t make it in at all, you’re the reason, apparently.” I catch the surprise in her eyes before her lashes sweep down. “Is that true, Skye? Have you been a naughty girl? Causing your father trouble enough to make him miss work? Or is that what we both know it is, an excuse?”

Her tongue darts out to wet her lower lip, and this time I can’t stop my groan.

She shivers at the sound, her eyes darting up to catch mine. “I…I…”

I turn and tug her behind me to the sofa. I drain my glass and set it down on the coffee table before sitting down.

She stands before me, and I can’t help myself anymore. I place her between my spread legs, and I grasp her hips.

She squirms and fidgets before I tighten my grip. “You want to know why you’re here, princess?”

“N-no,” she whispers.

I let my feral grin loose. “I’ll tell you anyway. You’re the bait I’m going to use to hook your father.”

Skye

Istare into the face of the most captivating man I’ve ever met.

Over the five years my father has worked for him, I’ve come across pictures of the thirty-seven-year-old billionaire.

He’s some sort of financial genius who turns everything he touches to gold. But the pictures I’ve seen of Jared Prince come nowhere near doing him justice.

His eyes are a piercing dark hazel, his eyelashes sinfully long.
