“That’s easily remedied,” she said.

“Not legally.”

Her face twisted, the ferocity in her expression calling to me. “The laws of men have no bearing on my heart, Kingston. Ours are the only opinions that matter. A piece of paper doesn’t make us husband and wife. Our vows do.”

“I’ll officiate a ceremony as soon as you assure me you’re not going to make good on your threat to tear out my heart.” I locked gazes with the shifter and waited. This was going to end one of two ways—forgiveness or death.

“All of us?” Alek asked, seeming pleased with the idea.

“Aye.”

“He’s telling the truth, Kingston. He didn’t manipulate her mind. He loves her as we do. He’ll die for her.”

Kingston shuddered, finally pushing off me. “Fine. But I’m due for a fucking first.”

“Excuse me?” Sunday’s arched brow was an elegant rebuttal.

“He got to mark you first.Hegot to tattoo you. And this motherfucker got to marry you. When do I get to be your first, Sunshine?” Kingston’s eyes glittered.

“We’ve had firsts together,” she breathed.

“Not like that. I want one that counts. That you can never forget.” And then he grinned, looking frighteningly pleased with himself. “You’re taking my last name.”

“Am I?”

He left my side and went to her, pulling her to her feet and against him. “Yes. You are. You’re taking my name, and I’m going to make sure you take my knot again during your next heat.” His hands dropped to caress her swollen belly. “I love you like this, and I’m gonna be the first to put twins in you.”

I forced myself not to groan at his possessive statement. But the thought of her going into heat again now that I didn’t have to deny myself anything sent a thrill of promise through me. I could see it was the same for the others. It was something we were all looking forward to. Assuming the world didn’t end, of course.

“Our days on this earth are finite. I am sorry we married without you, but I have gone my entire existence withouther, and I couldn’t waste any more of my life not being hers.”

“Any of us would have done the same, given the chance. We don’t have to like it, but we won’t blame you for it either.” This time when Thorne looked at me, there was nothing but understanding in his gaze.

“You speaking for all of us now?” Alek asked.

“Am I wrong?”

The berserker looked from him to me, his gaze weighted but no longer filled with anger. “No.”

Sunday removed herself from Kingston’s hold and walked toward me, her eyes on Noah, but her path directly to where I was still against the wall.

“Caleb’s right, you know. None of us have much time left. I don’t want to waste a second of it.”

He caressed her face. “So don’t. You deserve to have whatever you want. You deserve everything, dove.”

She kissed him softly and then wove her fingers through mine. Looking over her shoulder at Kingston and Alek. “Then give it to me.”

ChapterThirty-Five

THORNE

With five softly uttered words, the atmosphere in the small space went from one kind of tension to another one entirely. My gaze locked with Sunday’s, and the hunger I’d been unable to sate since she left came roaring back with a vengeance. I didn’t care who I had to share her with. I needed inside her, to feel her around my cock, to taste her sweetness and hear her moans fill the air. To love her in the most intimate way I could.

Fuck me, but I was painfully hard already.

I knew I wasn’t alone. Even Alek was up and moving with more life than I’d seen from him since we set foot in this place. Kingston had his shirt off and was already working on the buckle of his belt.

Assessing the room, I cast a dubious glance at Alek. “Close quarters,” I muttered.
