Clarissa stepped back, her hands on her hips as she looked me up and down.

“Well, what’s your excuse? I’m keeping the hottest guy in there waiting because I wanted to make sure you hadn’t gotten thrown into the back of some human trafficker’s van or something.” She cocked her head to the side, giving the matter some thought. “OK – the hottest guy aside from the Wolf brothers. But that goes without saying.”

The Wolf brothers. Just the mention of them was enough to make my heart beat faster once again, my blood to run hot. I had to tell Clarissa what had happened, where I’d been.

But outside of the bar wasn’t the place to do it.

“Come on!” I grabbed her hand and led her back inside. The place was a wild blur, and I didn’t want to look around for fear of laying eyes on Jay or Evan.

Moments later we were in the women’s bathroom, the two of us locked in a stall while chatter from the gaggle of girls in front of the mirror filled the air and gave my words cover.

“Alright,” Clarissa said. “Tell me what happened.”

I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and spoke.

It all came out in some wild stream of consciousness, just one word tumbling out after another. Clarissa listened with wide eyes and rapt attention; her jaw slacked.

“You’re kidding!” she shouted, putting her hands on my shoulders and giving me a slight shove. “Both of them?”

“Don’t say it out loud!”

She laughed. “What, you think that one of them is going to be here in the ladies’ room or something?”

“No jokes,” I said as I leaned back against the wall behind me. “This is all so weird, and I just got wrapped up in the moment and…” Another thought hit me. “Clarissa, they’re brothers!”

Clarissa pursed her lips and rolled her eyes. “Are you kidding me? They are obviously okay with it if they came on to you like that, so why should it bother you? If you ask me, you’d be an idiot not to go for it.”

“Are you serious?”

“Dream, this is a once-in-a-lifetime thing. You had two gorgeous men smashed up against you, both of them ready to do whatever you wanted…” She shuddered with delight. “Just the idea of it’s enough to make me hot.”

“I can’t. I mean, I don’t know.” I stood up straight, a realization occurring to me. “I need to go. I need to get home right now.”

Concern took hold on her face. “Yeah, sure. We can go now.”

“No, you stay here. I feel like I need some serious alone time to think about all this.”

“You sure? ‘Cause I can leave right now, no problem.”

I smiled slightly, happy to know that I had a friend there for me. “It’s OK. I just need a good night’s rest.”

Clarissa pulled me into a tight hug. “I know you might feel overwhelmed by all this, but if you let a chance like this slip through your fingers…”

By that point, she’d made her thoughts on the matter more than clear. She led me out of the bathroom and through the bar. Like before, I kept my head down to avoid being spotted by the guys. But then I accidentally laid eyes on Duncan. He was, as I always remembered him back in the day, all laughs and smiles and in the center of a big group of people.

But where were Evan and Jay?

It didn’t matter, I decided. I rushed out the door and quickly called an Uber. Luckily, in a place like Charmed Bay, one didn’t need to wait long for an Uber to arrive. Moments later the car was in front of Red’s and I hurried inside, my head still spinning.

I was glad to be alone, glad to be with my thoughts and no one else. As soon as the commotion of the bar faded, the words Evan had said right before he’d kissed me played once more in my mind.

“You don’t have to pick only one of us, just so you know. You want all three, you can have all three. We’ve already talked about it, and we agree. And it starts with this kiss.”

What, exactly, had that kiss started?

I had a feeling I was about to find out.
