I roll my eyes. “It’s called owning a washing machine. I thought you were super into that eco-friendly, sustainable fashion stuff. Just let me borrow the dumb pink dress again, okay? I can’t show up in my work clothes or they’ll probably turn me away at the gate.”

“Nuh-uh,” she replies, springing to her feet to head over to her closet. “You’re not going to wear the pink dress again because I’m going to put you in something way better.” My roommate digs through her clothes and pulls out a green dress, holding it up to me with a massive smile on her face. “Ta-dah!”

I arch a brow. “By ‘way better’ did you mean ‘barely there’? That thing’s a string!”

“You’re such a drama queen. It’ll look sexy as fuck on you.” She pumps her brows suggestively. “And I just know you’ll want to leave a lasting impression on your boss.”

“But we’re not—”

“Oh,please, babe. Don’t think I haven’t noticed that shit-eating grin on your face the last couple of weeks. You’ve practically been glowing. And let’s not forget the fact you didn’t come home that one night.”

“I was… working?”

“Mm-hmm. Working on getting your V-card punched.”

“Oh, shut up.”

Taylor gasps. “You’re not denying it! Oh my God, tell meeverything!”

“It was…” My face floods with heat. “It was amazing.”

“More! I need more!”

“He was just so… sweet and tender. He took it slow and made sure I felt safe and comfortable. He did this thing with his mouth—”

“Ooh, fuck yeah.”

“—that made me absolutely wild. But, fuck, he was so strong and powerful, too. I can’t even begin to describe it, Tay.”

Taylor fans herself with her hand. “Dear God, I could tell he was a kinky fucker just by looking at him. Men who wear suits day-in and day-out are the kinkiest of them all.”

“He’s notthatkinky.”

“Just you wait. It’ll only get spicier from here on out. They like to test the waters before they dive in.”

“I assume you’re talking from experience.”

“You know it, babe.”

“Well, Hunter isn’t like that. He never pushes me to do things I don’t want to.”

“We’re on a first-name basis with the boss man, are we?”

I roll my eyes. “Just give me the damn dress. He’s going to be here any minute.” As luck would have it, three sharp knocks sound at the front door of our apartment. I turn back to Taylor. “Go and distract him while I throw this on. Don’t be a freak.”

Taylor winks. “Would you relax? I’m sure he’ll love me.”

It’s a struggle and a half trying to figure out how to put the dress on. It’s held together by crisscrossing lace in the back with a high slit along the left thigh. The soft material hugs my curves perfectly, accentuating my breasts and caressing my ass, cinching nicely at the waist. The emerald-green silk fabric makes my eyes pop when I glance at my reflection in the mirror.

I lookgood, and that, in turn, makes me feel confident as fuck.

“So, like, do you know George Clooney?” I hear Taylor ask Hunter out in the living room. “What about Tom Cruise? Jackie Chan?”

“I’ve met George and Tom in passing, yes. I haven’t had the honor of meeting Mr. Chan, though I’m a big fan of his.”

“What about Stanley Tucci? Do you hang out with singers, too? Or just actors because that’s, like, your wheelhouse or whatever? Do you think you could get me in contact with Timothée Chalamet?”

“I’m not comfortable giving out that kind of information, Ms. Green.”
