“That’s cute.”

“I’m serious, Tay. I don’t particularly care if I have some great whirlwind romance. I want someone who’s gonna treat me right.”

My ears burn as my heart thuds loudly against my ribcage. I shouldn’t be listening to this. It’s none of my business, yet…

“You’ve told me so many horror stories about your college sexcapades,” Eden says, softer and almost insecure.

Her friend, Taylor, snorts. “Sexcapades. That’s funny.”

“You told me your first time was painful.”

“Yeah, the guy was kind of a selfish asshole. Treated me like a damn sex doll. Three pumps and he was done.”

“See? I don’t want that. I want someone who knows what they’re doing. Someone who cares about my pleasure just as much as they do theirs.”

A tiny voice in the back of my head feels sorry for her. I can hear her resignation, her hesitation, herfear. It’s not the concept of sex that scares her, but the risk of being mistreated.

An even louder, hornier voice in the back of my head tells me that I should go for it.

I can show you, Eden. I can show you how a real man fucks a beautiful woman.

I immediately clench my jaw and swallow hard.

No. No, that will never fly. She’s way too young, and our history is complicated. She may not be a child anymore, but that doesn’t mean I’m alright with my unexplained attraction to her. I tell myself it’s the dress. It’s kind of hard not to think about her short little skirt riding up her thighs, bunching around her hips, exposing her long legs and delicious—

Taylor huffs. “Well, good luck with your search, babe, because all dudes are the same. Why do you think I got into camming? At least on camera, they can’t put their hands on me.”

“You’re really not help — Wait, where are you going?”

“I’m gonna scout the place for you. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure they’re all nine inches minimum.”

“Taylor Green, I am begging you to stop.”

Her friend giggles. “I’m kidding, I’m kidding. I’m just giving our bottle girl my credit card so we can open a tab. Sit tight, okay?”

“You’re the worst,” Eden says dryly.

“Love you too, babe.”

Eden lets out a loud sigh of relief the moment her friend is gone. “Can this day get any worse?”

I smirk, leaving my booth to slide into hers. I can’t seem to help myself.

“Fancy meeting you here.”

She lets out a yelp, her arms quickly flying up to cover her chest. Her face is an adorable shade of red, equal parts bewilderment and irritation in her lovely, mismatched eyes. She was born with heterochromia. Her left eye is blue, her right is a light hazel with blue flecks. I remember how much she hated it when she was a little girl —some snot-nosed little fuck in her class used to pick on her until she was in tears— but sitting here before me, they’re arguably the most gorgeous eyes I’ve ever seen.

“W-what are you d-doing here?” she stammers. “Fucking hell, how much of that did you hear?”

“Hear what?” I lie fluidly. The poor girl looks like she might keel over if I reveal I’ve been listening the whole time. Though I was. Avidly.

Eden’s shoulders slump, her gaze cast down. She looks so uncomfortable, out of her element. She struggles with her dress, tugging at the bottom to try to cover more of her lap. It doesn’t work. “What are you doing here?” she tries again, voice soft and sweet.

“Just wrapped up a business meeting.”

She frowns. “In a nightclub?”

“I have my reasons.”
