"Don't you even think about it, Creed Thomas," she hisses, trying to hide her reaction. She hops to her feet. Her hands land on her wide hips, pulling her little dress taut across her tits as she sashays toward me. "I'll kick your ass."

"Yeah? You think you can take me?"

Christ, she's beautiful when she's all riled up and trying to hide how turned on she is. My girl isn't fooling anyone but herself though. She loves when I'm bossy with her. If I were anyone else, she'd have ripped my balls off long ago for it. But she does exactly what I say every time. She may give me hell and talk back, but she does it.

She can be a real good girl. She just makes damn sure I earn it first.

"I don't have to take you," she says when I wrap my hands around her waist and lift her to straddle my lap. She hooks her legs around my hips, her arms around my neck. She leans close, giving me a peek at her cleavage before her lips are at my ear. "We both know I could do whatever I wanted to do to you, and you'd let me."

"Jesus." I grip her hips when she bites my neck and grind her cunt against the hard ridge of my erection. If she's not careful, she'll be driving back to Dallas with my handprint around her pretty throat.

She giggles, burying her face in my throat. "I missed you."

"I missed you too, Jessie baby." I wrap my arms around her, holding her close to my heart. "You left without saying goodbye."

"I knew I'd cry if I had to say bye to you." She nuzzles my neck, pressing sweet little kisses to the underside of my jaw. "Spending nights away from you gets harder every day, Creed."

"Then don't spend them away from me anymore," I say.

"What?" She lifts her head, staring at me in shock. "Are you…are you asking me to move in with you?"

"Why not?" I tuck strands of her silky hair behind her ears so I can see her face clearly. "That's my plan eventually, little one. For you to move in with me. For you to have my ring on your finger and my baby in your belly." I glance down. "Shit. I've been in you bare every time. You could be carrying my kid already."

She immediately places a hand over her stomach, undeniable longing written all over her face. She wants it. Bad. My dick swells, the metal teeth of my zipper digging into my shaft.

And then her face falls.

"I can't move in with you, Devil," she whispers, shaking her head.

"Why the fuck not?"

"Risk," she says simply.

"Obviously we'd tell him about us first, Jessie baby."

"I…" Fear dances through her eyes before she blinks it away, trying hard to hide it from me. It's too damn late for that though. I've let her wiggle out of this conversation for long enough. She's telling me what she's afraid of and she's telling me now. I can't fix the problem if I don't know what the problem is.

"What are you so afraid of, little one?" I ask, tipping her head back until her eyes lock with mine. "And don't try to tell me that's not what this is because I know you. You don't hide from anything, especially not your brother."

She stares at me silently, tears brimming in her eyes.

"Talk to me, Jessie. Why are you running from us?"

"Because I'm terrified I'm going to lose one of you," she blurts.

This time, I'm the one left staring in silence.

"The day I came back to Diamond and asked if you were with the Savages or if you were involved with trading people," she says, her voice whisper-quiet, "it wasn't because I thought you were. It was because I was already positive you weren't. I just needed to hear you confirm it before…"

"Before what?" I growl.

"Before I knew for sure if I was right about who you really are and why you're at the Diamond King's ranch," she says, wetting her lips with the tip of her tongue. Her voice shakes. "You're a police informant."

I freeze. For a second, my heart doesn't even beat.

Jesus Christ. I've been there for months, and this brilliant, beautiful girl is the only one who has even come close to figuring it out. She's not entirely right, of course. But she's damn close. Too damn close.

"I…I haven't told anyone," she hurries to say. "I know what they'll do to you if they find out. You promised me you weren't after my brother and the Diamond Kings, and I believe you. I think you're there for Satan's Savages. I saw a news article…well, it doesn't matter now." She quickly shakes her head as if to dislodge the thought. "My point is, I kept your secret because I believe you. But my brother and the other brothers aren't going to see it the same way, Creed. That's why I don't want to tell Risk." A tear slips down her round cheek and I want to howl in pain. "I don't want the two men I love most in the world to go to war with each other."
