“I see.” Zac looks back to me, ignoring Theo’s presence entirely. “Are you sure you’re okay? If you need help, Hol, just say the word.”

“I’m fine. I just need a first aid kit, before he bleeds out in your office. Oh, and maybe a spare shirt.”

“Sure, it’s in the bathroom. What happened? I saw whatyour husbanddid to my bouncers at the door. It didn’t look like they got a single shot in, so why is he bleeding out in my office?”

I turn to Theo. “What did you do to the bouncers?”

He smirks at me. “They weren’t going to let me in. I just ensured they wouldn’t make that mistake again.”

My eyes bug out of my head. “T, this isn’t New York. You can’t just come in here and… I don’t know… but you just can’t.”

“And yet I did.” He looks to Zac. “Sorry about your bouncers, but you probably need to find yourself some better security.”

“Perhaps,” Zac replies. Then he opens a door and pulls out a white shirt. They look roughly the same size; it should fit okay. “So, what happened between the front door and you two going down to the basement?”

“It’s just a scratch. Holly’s overreacting.”

I stare at T. Is he serious right now?I’m overreacting?I go into the bathroom and dig out the first aid kit from the cabinet. “Take off your shirt,” I demand. “And sit down on the couch.”

“Yes, boss.” He laughs as he shrugs out of his jacket and unfastens the buttons of his now-ruined white business shirt.

“Just a scratch, huh?” Zac returns to his seat behind the desk.

When I see the gash and the ripped stitches on Theo’s shoulder, I can’t help the tear that escapes. He was shot. Someone pointed a gun at him and pulled the trigger. My hands shake as I wipe the blood away. It’s not bleeding as much as I thought.

T takes hold of my wrist. “Dolcezza, look at me.” He waits for me to lift my face to his. “I’m okay. I’m fine.”

“Theo, someone shot you. You’re notfine. Someone actually wanted to kill you. That’s not okay,” I say.

“Well, it’s nothing I haven’t managed before. Call it an occupational hazard. But trust me, right now, I’m okay.”

“I want to fly to Italy and burn the whole country down. Whoever thinks they can go after you obviously doesn’t know that you’re mine.”

T leans in and kisses me gently, keeping it very PG. “I fucking love you.”

“I love you more when you don’t have bullet wounds, so try to stay in one piece.”

I hear Zac’s chuckle, which stops the moment I turn my glare on him. “You look way too much like your sister with that scowl on your face. Reilly is the mean one, remember? You’re meant to be the sweet, nice one, Holly.”

“Are you saying my wife isn’t sweet and nice?” T questions, ready to jump to his feet. I push him back against the sofa.

“Sit down. Ignore him.” I look over at Zac. “Do you really think I don’t know how to be mean, Zac? I grew up right alongside Reilly. Every bit of trouble she got into, I was there with her. Don’t forget that.”

“Wouldn’t dream of it. Speaking of the little troublemaker, three, two, one…” Zac motions towards the door as it opens and slams against the wall.

“Zac, I can’t find Hol…” Reilly’s words drop off as soon as she spots me. “What the fuck happened? Holly, are you okay? What’d he do to make you angry?” Then she stalks over, looking Theo up and down as she whispers, “Damn, I can see why you signed those marriage documents now.” I know by the tilt of T’s lips that he heard her too.

“Shut up.” I shove her out of the way and tape gauze over the popped stitch, before throwing the new shirt at Theo. “Put this on. There is no way you’re walking down there without a shirt.” He raises an eyebrow, and I know what he’s thinking. “I have a dress on,” I answer his unspoken question.

“Barely,” T and Zac both mumble at the same time.

“Okay, why didn’t you all tell me the party moved up here?” Bray hollers from the doorway.

“What happened?” Reilly asks again, nodding her head towards Theo. It occurs to me that Reilly and Bray haven’t even officially met him.

“Oh, this is T, by the way. My husband. T, my very annoying sister, Reilly, and her very obsessed husband, Bray.” I point between them.

“Don’t think just because you’re bleeding, you’re getting away with the fact that you went and married my sister without even telling me first. I mean, she didn’t even have a dress, and I should have been there. I don’t care if you’re meant to be this big, bad mafia boss or whatever, I will find you and tear you to pieces if you ever hurt her.” Reilly says all of this, then smiles. “Hi, I’m Reilly. It’s nice to finally meet you.”
