CHAPTER SIX

ALEJANDROEXERCISEDCONTROLin all aspects of his life but there was no room for control here, no room for anything but instinct. He’d told her she should find someone else to further her sexual education with and he’d known it was the last thing he wanted, but when she’d thrown that back at him, he’d had to act. Because regardless of what he’d promised Luca, regardless of the limitations of what he could offer Sienna, he wasn’t about to let her walk out of his office and into another man’s bed.

He couldn’t.

Impulses ruled him, just as they had that first night. Impulses that drove thought, reason, obligation and loyalty to Luca from his mind completely, so all he could think about was Sienna and this, and how badly he needed her. He lifted her dress from her head with urgency, dropping it to the floor beside them, not willing to make the same mistake he had last time, leaving her dressed, so that he was unable to appreciate her body properly. It had been dark then too, whereas now the afternoon sun flooded through the mirrored high-rise windows of his office. He wanted to look but that would mean stepping back, so instead he compromised—feeling his way over her body, feeling every curve and undulation, familiarising himself with her sweet spots, those parts of her that trembled when he touched them, kissing her as his hands stroked and pulled and pleasured, until she was a quivering mess against the door. He wanted her. He ached for her.

He lifted her as though she weighed nothing, wrapping her legs around his waist as he strode to his desk and cleared it with one arm, papers landing all over the floor; he didn’t care. He placed her butt on the edge of his desk and stood between her legs, kissing her more slowly now as he tried to calm his flaming erection, to tell himself there was time—or risk coming as soon as he drove into her.

‘Stay here,’ he commanded against her mouth, pushing a desk drawer open to reveal a string of condoms. He lifted one and opened it, rolling it over his length before meeting her eyes and finding a question there.

‘You do this a lot.’

He frowned.

‘In your office, I mean.’

‘No,’ he growled, wondering why it felt important to clarify that. ‘Never.’

He didn’t wait to see her response. He’d given her a straight answer, and now, sheathed and protected from unwanted consequences, he wanted her more than he could express.

‘Tell me if I hurt you,’ he said into her ear.

‘You won’t.’

‘I wasn’t gentle enough with you last time. If I had known—’

‘I don’t want gentle.’ She pressed a hand to his naked chest, her fingertips just touching one of his scars, which ran from one nipple and diagonally downwards. ‘I want real.’

‘Real? Real I can do.’

And instincts and impulses took over again, so he drew her right to the edge of the desk and drove into her, hard, his first thrust a stake of ownership, a claim on her body that neither had expected, and his next, cementing it. She tilted her head back and his left hand drove through her hair, liberating it from the elastic so it spilled down her back, over her shoulders, her creamy, generous breasts shifting with each movement, her hair brushing them. Desire spiralled into something dangerous, a tornado, as he picked up speed, his fingers moving to her butt, digging into the flesh there as he kept her pushed right to the edge of the desk.

She arched her back instinctively, welcoming him deeper, and he pushed in, her muscles contracting ferociously around his length, until he was simply light and heat, lost to her, this, everything, just as he had been that night.

Pleasure built, a tidal wave that rocked them together, in unison, their breath and cries in perfect sync, so the moment her muscles began to spasm with uncontrollable pleasure, he exploded, burying himself in her with a guttural cry, kissing her hard, silencing her even as he devoured her voice, her impatience, her frantic need.

Like any natural disaster, there was the aftermath to contend with, and for Alejandro it was every bit as dangerous as the first time they’d slept together. He had crossed a line. Not once, but twice, and it was a line he’d thought he’d always, always respect: his friendship with Luca. He’d betrayed that friendship, and the knowledge sat like a stone in his gut because, even while being aware of it, he couldn’t summon the remorse he deserved to feel.

He could no longer put an obligation to Luca above the wishes Sienna had clearly expressed. She was a grown woman, who had every right to explore her sexuality, to choose who she slept with and when. And she’d chosen him. He knew Luca’s request came from a place of concern, but he also understood that Luca wasn’t seeing Sienna as she really was. The picture he’d painted of a woman in need of protection was a far cry from the strong, independent woman who’d come to Alejandro’s office and asked him to make love to her again. Admiration shifted through him as he contemplated what that must have taken.

‘That was...’

She searched for a word, her eyes twinkling so he found himself smiling—and amusement was not a reaction he usually associated with sex but one he felt now, nonetheless.

‘Yes.’ Because there was no one single adjective that could do justice to what they’d shared. It was better to simply acknowledge they’d both been rocked by it.

It wasn’t that Alejandro had grown bored of sex, so much as of his usual partners, who were so practised in seduction, so predictable. Or perhaps he’d grown predictable. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d let passion move him to the point he took a woman on a desk. Or a sofa in a restaurant powder room, for that matter.

‘How long are you in Barcelona for?’

‘I’m booked to fly out later tonight, actually.’ He braced his palms on the desk, on either side of her, keeping the irritation blocked from his face.

‘So that is all you wanted from me?’

She laughed softly. ‘Oh, don’t be hurt.’ She lifted a finger and absent-mindedly traced one of his scars—gained when he was only thirteen years old, with the craggy edge of a broken bottle. ‘I can change my flight.’

‘I was not hurt,’ he felt compelled to clarify. ‘Simply surprised.’
