“You’re saying that when a man kisses you, you do not want him to keep going?” He let his hand roam lower, pushing away the blanket with ease, until his fingers reached her womanhood. “You’re saying when a man kisses your mouth you do not think about him kissing you here?”

She groaned, a plea in her eyes when she looked to him now. He understood. Desire, invoked for the first time in her life, was flooding her veins. She’d had a taste of pleasure and she wanted more. He moved his fingers slowly, working them over her sex in a rhythm designed to frustrate rather than delight.

“I’m saying,” the words shuddered, “that I’ve never been kissed before tonight.”

He froze, his fingers incapable of moving past her pronouncement.

“What?” His voice was hoarse.

Defiance returned to her deep blue eyes. “You heard what I said.”

“Heard it, yes. Understood it, no.”

“Oh, come on, Elon. Stop making me go over this. It’s not a big deal. I’ve never been with a man before. Never kissed one, never dated one, never slept with one. Got it?”

It was so preposterous he could almost believe she was lying, except for two things. He’d already assessed her to be a terrible liar, and he had felt her innocence for himself. Why would she lie now about having never been kissed?

“You’re twenty three years old.”

She shrugged. “So?”

He lifted a brow, his meaning obvious.

“Fine, I’m an anachronism. Does this really matter? Let’s just pretend I wasn’t a virgin and never talk about it again.” She batted his hand, embarrassment making her pull away. But he wouldn’t allow that. He moved his hand back, his eyes challenging her to say something. There was relief in her expression though, gladness that he was near.

He moved quickly now, stirring her to a fever pitch, before straightening, moving his hand to his side. Her lips parted on a husky sound of complaint.

“Lie this way,” he gestured, and as she wriggled to comply, he grabbed her thighs, pulling her the rest of the way, impatience making him act.

Crouching down, his eyes met hers. “You have a lot of time to make up for.”

She drew in a deep breath, and he smiled as he moved his mouth to her sex, running his tongue over her slowly, teasing her at first, before rolling her most sensitive cluster of nerves in his mouth, sucking her there hard and fast, alternating with his tongue until she was crying out, her fingers dragging through his hair, her legs lifting onto the bed in an effort to comprehend the depths of this pleasure.

“I can’t –,” she cried out, and he smiled because he understood. She was losing her mind in the best possible way, and he was thrilled to be her enabler. Her teacher, her guide.

But for how long? Sanity and reality would have to intrude soon, and then this would necessarily fade into the recesses of their minds, something neither thought of again. Unless…

When her breathing had returned to normal, he drew himself up her body, pulling so their faces were level.

“We did not use protection before.”

She frowned, then swore softly. “That’s…not good.”

“No.” He padded his thumb over her lower lip, the plan he’d formed crystallising with every second that passed. “You do not need to be concerned for your safety. I have always, without fail, practiced safe sex.”

“Oh.” She nodded slowly. “That’s a relief.”

“However, the bigger question needs to be answered. You are not, I presume, on the pill?”

Her eyes flared wide, her hand lifting to cover her mouth. She shook her head wordlessly.

“I thought not.”

“But I’m – I was a virgin. What are the chances of me falling pregnant after just one time?”

His lips twisted in a mocking smile. “Better than you would think.” He rolled his hips, wanting her to feel the physical pull of desire. If he was honest, he’d admit that he wanted to confuse her with her need for him.

She closed her eyes, hiding her inner-most thoughts from him.

“You will need to come to the palace with me.”

She blinked up at him. “When? Why?”

He considered that. Their situation had changed since arriving at this hut; he had bigger concerns than shielding her from possible danger – now he had to grapple with the possibility she’d conceived his child too.

“We’ll leave tonight, once my security minister has confirmed there’s no immediate danger.”

“And from your palace, I can get back to Mosar,” she murmured, thinking aloud.

“No, habibte. Your place now is in Salim, with me.”
