He laughs, but smelling ingredients is his superpower, and right now, I’ve made my small office smell like sardines.

“I’m not going anywhere without you. I want to know you’re ok. Are you feeling sick? You didn’t tell me.”

I rub at his deep brow and make a grumpy face that I think reflects his.

“I wasn’t feeling bad until Kenny came in with that Pizza. It smelled terrible. Don’t eat it. Those kids are going to be running for the toilet.”

“For all our sake, I hope they have better aim than you.”

I can’t help the laughter that bursts out of me. “Did you just tell a joke? I didn’t know you could do that?” I tease.

“Shut up and change. I’m taking you to the doctor.” He shakes his head at me but laughs as he leaves me with an extra trash bag for my clothes.
