“They’ve been this way since they got here,” said Sera, putting her arm around me. She rested her other hand on my chest and her head on my shoulder.

“Have you called your mom?” I asked.

“I did, and Luisa spoke with her. She asked me to convey her thanks to you too.”

I wouldn’t ask, but if I had, I wouldn’t at all be surprised if her thanks were collective rather than to me specifically.

Sera let go and sat beside her sister. “Would you like Malin and Alegria to come with us?”

Luisa looked up at me, then at Press. “You’re going with us too, right?”

“We can, or we can stay here. Whichever you’d prefer,” I offered.

Luisa turned to Beau. “I think I’d be more comfortable, if you don’t mind coming with us.” She also looked up at Press.

I was about to reiterate I’d stay here when Sera stood and took my hand. Not to mention, I was getting tired of hearing me say it myself.

“Let’s go. We could all use some rest,” she said.
