Damian slid his fingers beneath my chin and tilted my head back. A creepy but sexy grin stretched the corners of his mouth. His lips looked so red against his pale skin, like he’d just drank blood. “You’re a good girl, Pet.”

Bastian sat up, stretching his arms above his head, and yawned. “Time to get up, pretty girl. We need showers.”

“I’m starving.” I rubbed my grumbling stomach. “Whatever drugs those assholes gave us are wreaking havoc on my insides.”

Damian lifted me from the bed and walked me into the ensuite bathroom. My head wouldn’t stop pounding, and after that encounter with Luca, it was only getting worse.

Why did he have to act like such a jerk? It was like he only had two modes. Raging asshole or sexy savage. I really liked when he turned into the sex god I saw last night. Loved it when he made me suck his cock, fisted my curls in his hand. Threw me onto the bed like a caveman. But his attitude outside of the bedroom was grating on my last fucking nerve.

After I showered with Bastian and Damian, we dressed in Sonny’s clothes and headed into the living room. Marcello sat on the leather sectional couch with his phone in hand, his fingers flying across the keys.

Luca was on the phone and screaming at someone in Italian, pacing across the tilted floor in the dining room. His nostrils flared as he spoke, and as his voice reached a higher octave, Marcello snapped his head at him. Whatever he was saying to the person on the phone must have shocked Marcello, because his eyes widened.

“Someone is PMSing,” I said under my breath to Bastian. “He really needs to calm down.”

I sat on the couch between my two handsome protectors, each claiming one of my thighs with their big hands.

I was theirs.

They were mine.

“He’s worried about you, Cherry.” Bastian snaked his arm around me and lowered his voice. “You don’t know what Luca has given up for you. All the things he’s done to make you happy.”

I let his words hang between us for a moment before I peeked up at him. “Happy? When has he ever made me happy?”

“You’re talented, baby.” He grabbed my breast over top of Sonny’s T-shirt and winked. “But you need Luca’s connections to get ahead in your career. His mother’s name opens a lot of doors in the art world.”

I knew he was right. The Blackwell Gallery was one of the top art galleries in New York. A sold out show at Blackwell would change my career and propel me to the next level. You needed an introduction from someone important to get the owner to even consider looking at your work.

My grandfather probably could have made my dream a reality. He had even more money and connections than the Salvatores. God forbid he did anything that would allow me some freedom from this arrangement. But after last night, I didn’t want to leave anymore. I was in the arms of my savage Knights and right where I belonged.

I leaned into Bash and whispered, “Then why does he act the way he does?”

Bastian rolled his broad shoulders. “He hasn’t been as bad since you moved into the house with us.”

I chuckled. “He was worse before? I doubt that.”

“You mellow him out. Just knowing you’re under our protection brings him some relief.”

“Because he’s afraid of losing his pawn, not because he gives a shit about me.”

“Not true,” Marcello said in a deep tone that forced me to look over at him. “We all care about you, princess. Even Luca. He just has a different way of showing it.”

Damian nodded to confirm. “The Knights will do anything for you, Pet. Kill for you. Die for you. Whatever you need. We take our oath seriously.”

This wasn’t the first time I’d heard the same thing from the other guys. They must have all rehearsed this oath, a vow to protect their queen at all costs.

A minute later, Luca hung up the phone and spun around to face us. I could see the madness dance across his handsome face, twisting his gorgeous lips into a snarl.

I pushed myself up from the couch and walked toward him. Luca just stood there, hands on his narrow hips, pushing his suit jacket to the side. He had two guns holstered to his chest. My devil looked so damn sinister and tempting.

I stopped in front of him and inched my fingers up his muscular arm. “Thank you, Luca. I know you saved me from those men. That I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you.”

His snarl quickly transformed into a semblance of a smirk. Would it have killed him to smile?

“I know you mean well, even if your approach is terrible.”
